MINE HAS NO ZERO.. BUT THE IMMIGRATION OFFICER ADDED ZERO AFTER "A" SO IT'S NOW (A 012345678). IT WAS

(A 12345678) IN MY K1 VISA. :)

There is no leading "0" on any of her documents from USCIS or my wife's Green card! It starts with a "9"

hello, i am a naturalized US citizen. Do i have an alien registration number also or is this only for non citizens?

you have an alien number because you are not US born. US Born citizens don't have an A number.

Hello,good afternoon from lovely Texas.

I kept on reading on VJ and even from other forums that the A number/Alien registration number is written in the visa itself. My visa was released in October 2010, K-1, but has no A number whatsoever in it. It has the control number which is a 14 digit number(located upper right corner) and of course the visa number in red at the bottom right.

Furthermore mine starts also with 0( got it from my I-797), but on my I-94 the Immigration Officer dropped off the 0.

well, the more I read the more I get confused. Shall I write down on my AOS forms that A number obtained from my I-797, or the one from my I-94? OR just leave it blank?

Thanks for future replies!

The A number is sometimes on the visa, but sometimes it isn't. The A number on the visa can also sometimes be the petitioners A number in cases where the petitioner is a naturalised USC.

To be safe ALWAYS go by the A number found on the NOA2.
