Sent in proof of ongoing relationship with petition?

Just wondering how many people sent in proof of ongoing relationship with your I-129f petition? I know it's not required or even mentioned, but I've seen some couples' websites out there that said they added some along with the required proof of meeting in the past 2 years.

Wondering what the statistics are? Thoughts?

I did, but I broke all the VJ rules (used N/A and None incorrectly, didn't include photos with landmarks and dates, ect..). I just basically went with my gut feeling, so I might throw off the statistics.

This comes up A LOT here on VJ.....................technically you don't have to give them proof of your on-going relationship until the interview. They really just want to know that you have met eachother.

Some people do send in evidence of the relationship-others don't. I sent in a few things-but in hindsight-it wasn't necessary  It may have even slowed us down............but I don't know that for sure. Even at the embassy, the woman said she didn't want to go through all the evidence he had-so imagine how they feel at the service centers?

Above and beyond what was required (evidence of meeting in last two years),I think Jerry added a couple of pages of phone records that specifically listed calls back and forth between us, and that's it.

If you go searching back through the archived threads (either here on the current VJ or on the previous VJ website), you will see many spirited debates about the merits of whether or not to include evidence of the relationship. Some had a very streamlined petition, others went with the "more is better" approach. I personally suggest paying close attention to the thoughts from members Yodrak and Andy.

Yes, we sent in the bare minimum, which included our YM instant message log showing all the dates that we chatted, our pics from my visit, and my passport stamped (departure/arrival). However, for the visa application we have enough evidence to fill a stadium (LOL!). Since we had more time to put together the package for the visa interview, we are more than prepared with substantial evidence of our relationship for the Consular Officer. Good luck to you and I look forward to reading about all your success stories.

Just wondering how many people sent in proof of ongoing relationship with your I-129f petition? I know it's not required or even mentioned, but I've seen some couples' websites out there that said they added some along with the required proof of meeting in the past 2 years.

Wondering what the statistics are? Thoughts?

We included some evidence based on the recommendation of some others. One reason that we were given was that the interviewer would have a chance to review some of the evidence before the actual interview. After spending some time getting people's ideas, we decided to include a few pictures, a few email messages (edited of course ;) ) and a couple of phone bills.

Good luck to you and I look forward to reading about all your success stories.

Just to piggy back on you, I sent in everything I could think of with our petition, YM chats of every single days we were online, cards, e-cards, passport copies with stamp, my BAGGAGE TAG, pics, any and all receipts I saved when I visited my fiancee, phone bill including my cell, phone cards.......my list goes on and on. Even after I sent all that, I still save whatever else we have between us. I still save our YM chats and anything else to prove our relationship.

Basically, it's a generally good idea to give whatever you have whether or not USCIS/NVC/Embassy looks at it or not. If I were them, it would tell me that you are going above and beyond to prove that your relationship exists. True that not everyone would want to go through every bit of evidence but as long as you have what they are asking for, then they have nothing to hold you down.

I, too, didn't join Visa Journey until after i sent my I129F in to CSC. My cousin's husband introduced me to it and I wish I had looked at it before I sent the petition...but thanks to him, he gave me a list of what he sent in for their petition and I copied it exactly plus adding some stuff I thought would help.

If I remember correctly, the I129F does ask for proof of ongoing relationship and proof of having met within the past two years. It DOESN'T however, say what types of evidence would suffice...and that's why I asked my cousin's husband for help since obviously they went through the same process. From what he told me, it took them six months from when they filed the petition to when she stepped foot on US soil. I wish I was there....my fiancee and I would be at her interview point if it weren't for IMBRA....BLAH!!

Whether you decide to provide evidence or not, I would suggest a little is better than none, then you won't run into any potential show stoppers on your journey. Good luck to you and hope your journey is quick

I guess I don't see the point in overwhelming an already overwhelmed service center adjudicator with every single phone bill and email you have had during your relationship. Save that mass of paper for the interview, when you might be asked about it, instead of the petition (where you only 'have' to prove that you've met within the past two years).

If you want to send in something extra with the petition, a small sampling is sufficient (and much less tedious for the adjudicator).

We included some evidence of relationship (phone bills, emails, chat session logs) in our I129F petition, and I personally think it helped when my fiance (now husband!) went to his interview. The consular officer was tough and denied three tourist visas before getting to my fiance's K1 interview. But my fiance (who was quite nervous by this point) only got about ten questions and then was quickly approved. Obviously the consular officer had to do some homework before the interview and at the least ensure that the Affidavit of Support was adequate in order to make a decision so quickly. It seems many of the questions he asked probably came from studying my G-325A. I sent three binders full of supporting evidence to support the interview, but the Consular Officer didn't look at them. So I'm with the camp that says including some evidence of ongoing relationship in your I129F petition can predispose whoever reviews the package --whether at USCIS or the embassy -- to view your relationship as valid.
