JACKSON, MS (WLBT) - The man who made numerous cyberspace threats to assassinate then-President-Elect Barack Obama on Inauguration Day will spend three years in prison.

Steven Joseph Christopher had pleaded guilty to the crime. He claims he is the Messiah.

During proceedings Friday, he refused to call Federal Judge Henry Wingate "Your Honor" because he said Judge Wingate is "brethren", and does not deserve a flattering title.

He claims he only made the threats against President Obama, Vladimir Putin, and others, to get our attention so we'll listen to him about the need for all nations to gather in Australia by 2012. The world will end in 2012, he says.

Earlier this year, Christopher was deemed competent to stand trial, but never did.

His former girlfriend, Sheila Enright of California, says Christopher has been diagnosed with schizo-affective disorder. We asked if she believes Christopher poses a threat to society.

"I think he may, at some point, if things don't go well in prison for a length of time, given his mental state... that's when these kinds of things happen," she says.

Christopher is not from Mississippi, but he was arrested in Brookhaven in January for the threats.
