Are affidavits supposed to be had-written or typed???

We are going to ask a few people to write affidavits for us to take to the interview, and a weird question came to mind: are affidavits supposed to be typed in Word or handwritten?What do USCIS prefer? What did you guys do?

we had them written by hand and mailed to our house, but that was back at the time when we mailed our I-130 package. i haven't heard of anyone bringing them at the day of interview. i know ours were there with the rest of the documents because i saw part of them in the orange package that i got from the embassy to drop off at us entry. good luck

And as I just noticed it's an AOS case, then I suppose that affidavits from family and friends should be taken to interview

for our letters all we did was have them type up the letter and sign them with blue ink, they did two copys of each letter so we have two original hand signatures and didnt have to make copys to run any risks. We had 3 affidavits 2 from people at the wedding and 1 from a family member who helped me move and who was there for a lot of my husbands vists.

for us we just typed them up and printed them out. then sent them out for our family to sign.

we just used a generic letter (stating their name, address, DOB), and then added some personal details about our relationship with the family member and how they know about us and our relationship, make sure to add important dates... vacations together, celebrations, wedding/reception.

we didnt even get them notarized! hope this helps. good luck

For our I-130 we will have 6 - 4 are typed, 2 hand written... i don't think it matters either way so long as they can read them...

we sent 4 affidavits from friends and family, typed, signed by them and notarized.

But we didn't take any new affidavits to the interview. Although, our immigration officer was browsing the whole AOS packet, and I saw our 4 letters there among other documents. They have everything you sent them))

Thank you all for your input! MattyBear thinks they should be typed, and I think it's because in the American society everything is typed now, not hand-written Myself, as a wild Russian lol, thinks they should be written since, I think, it adds to their individuality and credibility. However, seems like the majority choose typed affidavits, so that's probably what we will go with...
