i-693 and flying monkeys

I just back from the doc office at my local uscis approved doctor.To me, this all seems to be a scam.

When we made the appointment,the nurse told my wife she needs to take a aids test,complete look over and bla bla and it would be $300.When we got there, i had to burst her bubble,i explained to her all we need is for the doc to transcribed the info on the i-693 and seal it up,and hand it over.They kepted giving me a speach like it will be declined,and why risk it.I told them,why should she do all of this again, she just did all of this about a month ago.

I saw many others couples there,and they were giving the same speach.I think its sad these people scam these people with this.They charged me $50 FOR THIS SERVICE.

They tried very hard to give my wife a flu shot,i told them she doesnt need that.I told them i dont care if i get a rfe, i just want to file her papers,so we can get her ead card.And what ever shots i need, i will get a letter in the mail and deal with it then.

I just find it amazing, once you go threw all this waiting to get your loved one home, then you gotta go threw this.Its sad,sad,and more sad.But, i guess that is what you gotta do!

Many CS's are a scam, pure and simple it is a lisence to steal. Please check the pinned topic at the top of the K-1 page for information from a director at VSC about this. I have also been working our Senator, Bernie Sanders on changing legislation regarding this. While I do not buy into his politics, I know him from his days as Mayor of Burlington and he is all about cutting health care costs, I know he would like to take this out of CS hands entirely and allow anyone to go to local doctors and have them sign off on it.

Good for you for being intelligent enough and assertive enough to know what you want and what you need. Unfortunately not everyone is like this, they pretty much just do whatever they are told without thinking about it.

You really have to be proactive. No one is looking out for your best interests but you. A good lesson for everyone.

When I originally called the Dr's office for a quite on a price for the physical they said it would be between $500 - $800 depending on what I needed. After it was all said and done the fees came out to just over $1000. That was the final reduced number after I complained about being charged for an office visit for the TB Test when I didn't even see a Dr. for that portion, otherwise it would have been even more. Pretty outrageous.

DR Arnold in texas will do the trip for $30 by mail. Takes about 10 days.

You are the kind of patient these CS crooks love.. somebody who will pay their ridiculous prices without much resistance.

This is partially your fault for not knowing what the average cost was. Why would you ever agree to pay even $500, when it should cost no more than $250-300, and that's for a full medical?

Did you call any other CS's or just that one? Were you happy with the quote you received?

We never submitted the I-693 with my wife's AOS petition. Didn't receive an RFE, case was transferred to CSC and her petition was approved in under two months. She had completed received the required shots while in Thailand prior to receiving the K-1 visa, all of which had been done this year. Not certain if that was satisfactory or whether it was simply overlooked.
