Ok, Mondays suck! Lets just admit it. We are all (not so  ) patiently waiting for this journey to be over. So HOWS ABOUT WE LIGHTEN IT UP IN HERE??!?! Please??

So, when your SO (that is signifigant other right) finally gets here, what are you planning? What do you fall asleep at night dreaming about showing him/her??

Ok, me, I dream of taking my hubby to the grocery store and best buy, then we are going to pack everything we have, and go for a road trip. Whenever we find a place that we like, pfft that's where we will settle for a little while.

You know that is SO funny! Someone asked me that today. "So, Joel, what are you going to show your wife once she gets here." My answer, "CostCo!" the best place on Earth!

I can't wait to show Hicham Costco for sure since I have spent over a year and a half trying to explain it's greatness. I also can't wait for him to come play golf with me, go to the beach, road trip, camping, cooking together, dropping him off to his ESL classes, teaching him how to use the dishwasher... soooo many things! I know this list turned into something else but I'll add more later.

Good thread!

Nighty night.

oh man what a great thread

of course, all the things that have been mentioned... CostCo is a big one. i think Medy (my husband) will be blown away. our next stop will be Home Depot. he'll be like a little kid in a candy store.. he won't know where to start! also CVS... he is fascinated with the concept of a pharmacy/grocery/newstand/photo processing store. he does not understand when i say that i go to the pharmacy to buy phone cards, shampoo, milk, scotch tape, magazines, and toilet paper.

showing him my apartment and introducing him to my dog and driving with him in the car. i can't wait to show him all the stuff that i talk about - the beach i go to, my favorite restaurants, where i get coffee, where i go to school. also i am excited to show him stuff that i can actually do... like i can actually buy food at a grocery store and bring it home and make it into a meal. i might not be as good as his mother, but i can do it.

he has told me MANY MANY times that he would like to visit the places he sees in the movies: New York, Miami, and Beverly Hills. so we will probably have to take a few road trips and weekend getaways. He would also like to meet Snoop Dogg. and Ben Harper. I told him I'd see what I could do.

hahaHA!! Ohhh Medy would be sooooo jealous... I can't count the number of times I've had to eat dinner while watching a Ben Harper concert on DVD. I think his dream, more than coming to the US and living with me, is to see Ben Harper live.

Cute thread...

My sweetie has been just floored over the life my chihuahua leads here. Her own wardrobe, purse, toys, treats etc. He laughed so hard the first time he saw her all decked out in booties and a snow coat for winter. When I went there, I took his dog (a sheperd, who is used to eating chicken heads and feet) a giant beef flavored rawhide bone. They had never seen anything like it, evidently neither had the dog cause he sniffed it funny turned up his nose and went back to licking me... sighs

But definately, I can't wait to show him Superpets. He doesn't understand what a store for animals is.

Well, Said has been here a few times, but I can't wait to show him many things also....like Sam's Club (I'm guessing that's what CostCo is like, we don't have those here) and Petsmart. He told me he went into a petstore here b/c he'd never seen one :P . So other than those little things, and just doing them together, OH!!!! I'm dying to take him to Whole Foods! But mostly, I really want him to meet my dear friends he didn't meet last time and come swimming w/ me at their house. He's even driven my car, so that will be no biggie. But I'm anxious to see how "handy" he will be around the house... I have a few projects on a "honey do" list for while he's not able to work. Oh! and the dog park... we've got to go to the dog park! Maybe some road trips to Atlanta, Houston.... New Orleans will be a regular trip - it's only an hour away. He wants to go to the Hookah Cafe where I sometimes dance (for those who don't know, I'm a bellydancer).... Mostly, I just want to have our daily life together! (L)(L)(L)

Speaking of Costco -

One of the first places Tamer went when he got here was Sam's Club, but not by choice, mind you. We were trying to open a bank account, but they wouldn't accept his visa as the second form of ID, so they advised us (wink wink, nudge nudge) that a Sam's Club membership card would be valid as a second form of ID and that they would give it to him with his passport.

So, one of our very first acts as a newly reunited couple was to wait for 45 minutes as the trainee at Sam's Club tried to figure out how to give us a membership using Tamer's passport as ID.

We've decided to make a list of all the things we want to do, because we've found that we go places and are like "ooo, let's do that" and then we forget about it.

When I was in Egypt with Mohammed his big deal was going to Fathalla... a very very scaled down version of Walmart Egyptian-style. (VERY scaled down.) I am dying to take him to Walmart (ick) because he's going to freak. Then the mall to the guitar shop. The Hard Rock Cafe is also on the list. He loves the one in Cairo. But most all, just hanging out with the kids, taking in the city and easing him gently into American life, and maybe taking a few road trips because he wants to see the countryside. I'll blow his mind and drive him down to Lexington horse country.
