How important is I-134 Affidavit of Support been notarized?

I did not notarize my affidavit of support form and my income tax forms I sent to my fiance, I hope this will not be an issue? Interview date is fast approaching. Does anyone know if this may be an issue?

The I-134 does not normally need to be notarized anymore, although there was a time in the past when it did. Unless the consulate in your fiance's country has a very specific requirement that says the I-134 still needs to be notarized, you are fine.

My tax returns were not notarized and had no problems at all. But again....each embassy has its own set of rules. Call or email to be sure of their requirements. If you are still a bit worried about it then go down the safe way and have then notarized.

Affidavit of Support

To show that visa applicants have sponsorship and will not become public charges while in the United States. The sponsor must file a separate affidavit for each applicant.

Edition Date :

10/30/2008. (Prior versions are also acceptable)You must sign Form I-134 in your full name. For this reason, it is not necessary to sign Form I-134 before a notary, nor to have your signature notarize after you sign it.
