is the k-1 process just as long as if he was to move here to canada?

would he be able to get a workers visa if he came to canada for 5months? like..would it be simpler if he lived here for 5 months during the process?

Well no, there's more to it than that. You have forms to fill out and fees to pay, but he can be with you in Canada while you wait out the process.

anybody know anything about the process of him coming here?

The things that are different about immigrating to Canada (rather than the U.S.)

- You can do an inland application - your spouse can be here with you while you wait for his PR.

- You do not have to prove a certain amount of income, just that you can financially look after the immigrant.

- Current time, from what I have read, is around a year. He could however get work authorization before that if I remember correctly.

Things that are not different:

- You pay fees

- He has to have a medical

- You have a lot of paperwork to fill out (however it's all done at once, not in bits and pieces).

Citizenship and immigration Canada has a good website, you will want to read this:

http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/sponsor/spouse.asp

hi guys! sorry its been awhile like 10 days actually i think but i've been very busy and we've been pretty much killing ourselves deciding which i shte best option for us and it's for me to go there things have came up and well i'll not get into it at the moment but my intentions are to visit there for 6 months when we start the I-129f. and so yes i need ties for poe. i know i can use

a note from my employer saying i still have my job?

a bank statement to say i have money and a bank account here

i don't currently have a lease so that wont work.

i was wondering if you could all give me a list of things i can use as ties to Canada because i really cannot afford to be denied so if they ask i want to be able to have a lot of things to show them and me and my boyfriend will be going back to the US together so..when they ask me who i'm visiting to i just point to my boyfriend? thanks a lot guys! and sorry again for not posting in so long :( hope you didn't all forget about me!

by the way i will have all mail mailed out to me, that will be taken care of and i will have all necessary documents needed for my parts of the I-129 package

When will you be filing? A copy of the NOA-1 wouldn't be a bad idea. What about bills you are paying while you are in the US? If you'll be living with your parents, what about a lease with them to show that you intend to return? Any doctor's visits planned (we all know how SLOW doctors can be when scheduling apts in Ontario)? I once used a wedding invitation as a tie to Canada.

If you are traveling with your fiance then simply tell the BG that you'll be traveling with him.

Good luck.

I was never asked for anything, although I came prepared. I was honest with the borderguard and stated that I was going to visit my boyfriend and then once we were engaged I referred to him as my fiance.

- I always had a letter from my employer stating when they knew I'd be away and when they expected me back at work.

- my return trip information if I was flying back (which I was the majority of the time)

Frankly, having a copy of bills you pay or Dr's appointments scheduled (what piece of 'official paper' would you have?) aren't very good proof, you could fake a Dr's appt and bills can be paid from anywhere, you don't have to return to Canada to pay them.

If you've filed for the K-1, I've heard a lot of people bring a copy of that paperwork along to prove they are filing it. I personally never saw the need to have it, but hey - why not be prepared
