Originals or photocopies for NVC?

Are we supposed to submit orginal or photocopies of birth/marriage certificates, PCC etc to NVC?

I130 approved on August 29th, still waiting for NVC to assign the case number...waiting impatiently.

Have you spoken to an operator yet? I was approved 9/11 and got my NVC case number last night when I spoke to an operator.

Yes, when they say 'certified copy' they don't mean taking a copy and having it notarized etc. It must be the original or from the issuing authority, as ArunandCatie mentioned, like a government records office for instance.

You send a photocopy of the entire package if you want your originals back?? Or so I was told, I missed that one and just sent originals (certified copies)??? We'll see!

we didn't sent any photo copies of the entire set but anyway i am encouraging people to do that. We received all originals at interview. It's better to keep 1 or 2 copies of entire packet with you in the same order you send to NVC. Good luck

Actually, it was in the instructions on the nvc section of the state.gov website, I read it, made notes, so I remember it.

It's been a few months, but when I check the website (now ) over at http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3195.html

it says the same thing, as I remember :

Photocopy Requirements

In addition to sending the original documents or certified copies of the documents to the NVC, the applicant and each accompanying family member must submit a photocopy of the original documents or certified copies of the documents.
