Whidbeygirl...from what I understand is for those averaging around 2.4 days.....their AP is a day or two long.

As in they probably don't go through all the checks maybe only one....

But per what my husbands friend told us was every applicant has AP even if its cleared the same day.

99% of Mena Men go through AP, but for some reason MENA Females typically don't have any problems. I would just brace myself for the wait, and trust that GOD will see you through this roller coaster.

Databases? I heard that there are over 30 that they check. They themselves don't check them, but they are "farmed" out to be checked. The backlog is incredible. Prepare for a wait.

Still disagree. Every single person who has been approved (on my list) was approved at the end of the interview - no AP checks whatsoever. There are some who got their visa the same day and some that took a few days only because that's how long it took to print up and mail it out. Some embassy's only hand out visa's on certain days, Senegal is one example, had we been approved the day of interview we would have either gotten it that day or would have had to wait 5 days because they only issue visas on Tuesdays & Thursdays at 3pm.

what do they really do in general....does anyone have an idea?

In our case it was sent back to Washington. I think they did FBI database checks on my spouse and perhaps even myself. It took about 90 days to clear and then after 30 more days we got put into Final review. The AP varies according to the reason your case is put into it.

:-) Hip hip hooray! Alhamdulillah!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Visa printed!!!!!!!!!! 08-06-09 after 4 tiring months of AP! Thanks Allah-you are the greatest!

Exactly 4 months after the interview! Amazing! :-)

08/11/09 Passport/Visa in hand! Alhamdulillah! Allah is magnificent!

08/18/2009-Home with the family! :-) Masha'Allah!

My husband has a friend working at the USEM. Everybody goes through AP. Just AP for males from the MENA is longer and slower. For others it could be only a day or two/till visa is printed.

what it is...I would agree with what atk defined it as.

What is MENA?

My fiance is not from MENA. He's been in AP for more than a month already after interview. At the interview he was asked to bring additional documents. We brought them and instead of visa we got into f***ing AP.

sorry to hear...hope it ends soon... where's your fiancee from?
