Hi all. I am little frustrated with one of the doctors listed on my fiancee's packet 3. She went to have a medical exam this morning, and he refused to give the vaccines. He said they are not needed for the visa itself. I UNDERSTAND that, and i know that we only need it come Adjustment time. However, he doesnt understand that when my fiance comes here, we have very limited time, being the 90 days. How will i get her on my work insurance account, set up a doctors visit, and get the vaccines for her in time for adjustment? Thats why i was stressing that it would have been much better if the dr. gave it to her today...I even told her to call back, and she did, and doctor still refused, and he already took the money for the physical...what can I do? please help..anybody experience this? Maybe i am stressing too much, and there will in fact be time here for her to get onto my insurance and get the vaccines....

It is possible to pay out of pocket for vaccines - it will still probably be only a fraction of the other costs in the process. (Airfare + AOS + wedding expenses). Most physical physicians charge extra for the vaccines anyway, so you aren't saving any money.

Depending on your time line, 90 days may be plenty of time for her to get on your insurance. For mine, it is effective the date of our marriage, so as soon as we get the insurance card from them he could go to the doctor. I doubt that it would take the 80 or so days we'll have left. Crossing my fingers he doesn't need it that quickly!!

Calm down and you are stressing too much, but understandable.

Your fiancee should be covered on your work insurance account as soon as you get the appropriate papers to your Benefits Manager. Also the Vaccinations will not be needed before filing the AOS, it just needs to be done before the AOS medical. So breath deep and relax.

And good luck on the interview.

Stop stressing, for sure.

You have 90 days to get married. Then you file the AOS documents. It only take one phone call to schedule a doctor's visit and she can get those vaccinations at that appointment. It also takes one call to your HR department for the paperwork at add her to your insurance. So, only two calls, very easy and quick.

is it possible for the beneficiary to get vaccines from the local health dept here in the US?

For any future people reading this thread.... you can get vaccines from any doctor; just have him/her update your vaccination record. You could end up saving a lot of money by going to someone cheaper than the embassy-approved doctors. Then, you only have the actual medical exam to get from the embassy-approved doctor.

Update - she saw the second doctor today, who gave her MMR. But doctor said that the MMR has to have a 2nd shot in a month, and finally a 3rd shot in December. But she will be here in December. Does this mean that we have t ofind a US doctor that will just give the 3rd shot? I am afraid the doctors here will give all 3 or none...how wuld she get that 3rd shot of MMR?

It will all work out. Don't even give another thought to vaccinations, but just get her here and then go to your local health department to complete the vaccinations required for the AOS.
