he could have pushed a public indecency ... totally interrupted (stopped) the moment, etc. Instead it was ... carry on.

Let me see... he could have arrested you for public indecency in the privacy of your own car...

yeah that makes sense.

I was driving from Boca to Orlando late at night, I had a road buddy...you know, another driver who takes turns being in front while you're both speeding? Ok, so I was in front, my road buddy who was with me for like 2 hours suddenly gets in the other lane. I was a bit perplexed cos I had just taken the lead. Then I see cop lights in my rear view.

Cop pulls me over, comes to the window, I say 'Thank God you're here!' He's all "???" I'm all 'didn't you see that truck? I think he's been following me! And so I sped up to get away from him...it's scary being a woman driving alone on a dark road!'

He told me not to worry, he was going to give me a police escort to my exit, but that if we passed the truck, he'd stop them for me, and I should just proceed ahead. Thank God we never passed the truck! And the officer beeped and waved when he got me to my exit. I can't remember the distance but it was quite a drive.

Back in Canada I was an organizer in a major living history festival based on the War of 1812. (The original event was the Battle of the Thames where US soldiers pursued retreating British soldiers up the Thames River, Ontario, met in battle, Chief Tecumseh was killed and area became American until the end of the War). The host unit of re-enactors portrayed US soldiers from 1812, and as part of a publicity stunt 'kidnapped' the Deputy Chief of Police (he had no warning it was going to happen). They 'marched' him at musket point (flintlocks) to the US Commanding Officer at the site of the event who then 'interviewed' him. Recognizing that the Deputy Chief of Police was in a uniform, the Commanding Officer gave him several options - to be an enemy combatant and be taken prisoner, to remain neutral and be paroled back into the community on his promise not to assist the British or impede the Americans, or to join the US forces. The Deputy Chief of Police said he would join the US forces and was able to bring all of the City police officers under his command with him! The Deputy Chief of Police was immediately invited to join the Commanding Officer in his tent for liquid refreshments! It was very tongue in cheek and made great theatre! The Deputy Police Chief took it all in great fun (the event had been an annual event for a number of years and well supported by the community) and he was a great sport about it. Security at the event was done by off-duty Police Officers overnight but during the day every on-duty police officer who could work up an excuse to visit the event would do so because it was just a fun place to spend time.

Most of my run ins have been with strict, firm, but by the book enforcers.

Menaces to underage girls (and speeding 16 year olds) out late at night with their boyfriends, and boons to said girls' parents. (I lump my sister into this story as well).

Looking back, this is just what I want from my police officers.

Oh, and there was the one time I got pulled over at the airport - you know how confusing those sorts of places can be, changing lanes to get to the right route in and out etc, and it was early in the morning, so the sun was at just the right angle such that lane lines which had been tarred over and repainted in a different configuration looked just like regular ones, so while I thought I was obediently following the lane, I was infact cutting off a cop car...I assured him that I was never so intentionally careless or rude to normal people, and if I was, I would certainly never dream of doing it to someone who could do something about it - that would be unforgivably stupid, and perhaps I managed to convince him that in my mind, at least, it was an innocent mistake (it was, honest!).

Oh! and then there was the time when I was driving back to Phoenix from Sonoita (it's right close to the MX border) around 3am, since I had class that morning, so we had to start early. I was definitely going the speed limit because I had seen the cop pull in behind me, so then when he decided to pull me over I was a bit confused, and vaguely offended that he also wanted to search my car!!! I'm guessing that he technically had the authority to do so, I probably made some minor traffic violation or some such, I really didn't want to get into it with him.

In Canada- I have been pulled over twice since I got my drivers license- one which resulted in a speeding ticket.

I got pulled over for the first time here in the States last week for speeding- he let me off with a warning.

I did have another run in with a cop years ago in downtown Edmonton. I pulled into a parking spot on the street and when I got out to pay the meter, it wasn't working. I decided to pull out and find another spot. I pulled into another and when I got out there was a cop car behind me and he was pointing at me to come to his open window. He said "that was pretty good driving, you didn't even knock the coffee off the top of your car." When I got out the first time, I put my Timmy's on the roof and forgot it.

Let's see if what looking_up said here is true:

Well bad behavior attracts the media, so many good things going on in our communities by the law enforcement that will not get reported unfortunatly.

One time when I locked my keys in the car by accident,a polic officer helped me break into my own car.

May 7,2007-USCIS received I-129f
July 24,2007-NOA1 was received
April 21,2008-K-1 visa denied.
June 3,2008-waiver filed at US Consalate in Panama
The interview went well, they told him it will take another 6 months for them to adjudicate the waiver
March 3,2009-US Consulate claims they have no record of our December visit, nor Manuel's interview
March 27,2009-Manuel returned to the consulate for another interrogation(because they forgot about December's interview),and they were really rude !
April 3,2009-US Counsalate asks for more court documents that no longer exist !
June 1,2009-Manuel and I go back to the US consalate AGAIN to give them a letter from the court in Colon along with documents I already gave them last year.I was surprised to see they had two thick files for his case !

June 15,2010-They called Manuel in to take his fingerprints again, still no decision on his case!

There was my eighteenth summer, when I decided to hitchhike around the US. A cop in Missoula, Montana got me a free hotel room for the night, provided I agreed to walk to edge of town the next morning, and be on my way. And I did get transported through several jurisdictions in western New York, being handed off from one PD to the next, I think 2 or 3 in a row, if I remeber right. No handcuffs, or anything. Just a ride out of their jurisdictions. Front seat, even, if my memory serves me.
