Hi everyone,

I hope all is well and everyone is making progress with their visa journey. Our K1 was approved two months ago and interview is scheduled in Manila on 8/25/2009. I will visit my fiance for the 3rd time within the last 1.5 yr and we're thinking if we both should attend the interview. Please let us know if it is advisable to attend interview together.

Thank you

I think it's a GREAT idea! We had our interview at the US Embassy in Cairo back in May, & thank God everything went super smoothly. Most of the people who went in there alone were treated roughly & not so nicely by the consular officers. Being there at my fiance's side during the interview was a HUGE plus!!! ;) Good luck in your interview!! I'm sure everything will be great! :D I ALWAYS hear good things about the US Embassy in Manilla. Good luck & God bless!!!! :star::thumbs::star::thumbs::star:

Our CR1 was approved in May and we will have our interview on 8/17. I am planning to attend the interview. I think it can only help. I read elsewhere you will be allowed into the embassy, but, may or may not be able to participate in the interview. Depends on the Consular Officer. And if you are there they could interview you seperately if they want... And compare answers.

I am thinking to go into the embassy and give her my passport to take into the interview with her,,, as additional proof of a continued bonafide marriage. I read that here on VJ too. Sounds like good advise. At that point they can decide whether or not to involve me.

Good Luck,

I attended Elena's interview in June and it went well. If you can it can only help your process.

Probably you will be within earshot of the interview as it takes place, and the CO may even ask you a question. It sometimes happens that way in Manila.

I went to the RP 5 times in a year and a half (felt good to get that free flight from Philippines Airline... finally!). I went to the interview, but I didn't go into the interview with my fiancee. It is her interview so they often don't want the USC in there to interrupt the flow of it all. The COs are just normal employees trying to get through a day of work so to some of the COs, the USC is considered a pain in the back side. I think visiting your fiancee 3 times helps you, but I don't think attending the interview helps anyone especially when trip number 2 is for the interview (my opinion).

Bottomline is!

I've seen a LOT of people that are still kicking themselves in the butte for not attending the interview.

I've only seen one out of many that are not glad they attended.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

My honey just passed her interview in Manila on July 16th. I was planning on going there but the time and the costs were too draining for me. She passed the interview with no problems. If you have the means to do so, then go. Can't hurt. Its a pretty stressful portion of the process for sure. I am not sure if I am happy more that she has her visa or that we are finished with the interview.

I sent color copies of the inside of my passport. I did learn that they pretty much look at the required forms. I had 3 years of returns with W-2s and copies of the signed returns. I also had a letter of Employment and I-134 both of which were notarized. The W-2s and the tax returns is what they looked at closely according to Naty. As long as you have all the documents for both you and her and you have the income requirements met, They pretty much have to pass her.

Comments : She recived the first notice from Manila on Valentines day. Perfect timing.

The first setback came during the medical. Naty had to do the 3 day sputum and then we waited 2 months for the results. YESSSS>came back negative

Went for her interview on July 16th and received her Pink Slip......Finally. Paid the AIR21 and I expect her here August 10th, 2009. Marriage will be August 21st, exactly 4 years to the day that we first met.

I went to ours and would highly recommend you do also. I was allowed "in" to the interview. Even if they do not let you "in" you are there to support her.

If you can attend it can only help your fiance(e) be more relaxed and confident. Even if you're outside, in another room, down the street drinking coffee.

I have been wondering about the USC attending the interview. I believe you are right if the petitioner is there they might be in the way. Something that I wondered also is if the petitioner is there the interviewer may perceive this to be a possible coercion. A possible case for forcing the Filipina. This would be a chance for the Filipina to think over if she really wants to do this. Just a thought.

If you are able to attend the interview, then by all means go...it can only help...I attended my wife's CR1 interview last November and the only question I was asked was "how many times have you been to Peru?"...our interview was conducted through a glass window , I approached the window with my wife when her name was called and was allowed to stand by her side during the very brief interview...after going into a short AP period her visa was granted...my stepson's CR2 interview will be the end of August and we both plan on attending it with him...good luck

Can't even be on the same floor as your beneficiary at interview time in Guangzhou, China. The trick is to have your partner hand the VO your passport to show that you are there waiting for the result. Common wisdom says it makes a difference.
