Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive,and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Just wanna say hi to everyone.. I have been MIA for quite some time. Still dealing with environmental and weather changes I must say.

It is an illness after another.. The doctor said I am extremely normal.. :wacko: It is just that I am having a time of my life??? :bonk:

I promise to love you in good times and in bad, with all I have to give and all that I am, in the only way I know how -- completely and forever......

Its like putting your baby in daycare for the first time. The first year is a killer. The baby gets sick every other week. :dead:

Good to see you Wen! I think Jenn's analogy is spot on. Maybe you just need to get sick for a while and build up your immunity.

It's Friday! Wooohoooo!! Whats everyone upto this weekend???

OK I have a question for you all:

My passport is in my Maiden name as a result my K3 was issued in my maiden name (even though I applied with my married Last name).....as a result CA issued me a driving Lic in my maiden name :unsure:

My Canadian Dr Lic and all other ID are in my married name....so I am in a bit of a pickle and am now worried that my GC will be issued in my maiden name. Any idea how I can go about changing the name on GC? Queue Did your wife face any issues like this?

Sarita, I had no problems changing everything. You just show your marriage license when you change you drivers license. Same with the passport. http://travel.state.gov/passport/fri/Chang...geName_851.html

See if you can contact them and see if a letter from you stating how you want the GC to read is enough. Maybe you can catch it before they print it....

You kinda want everything to match..

Lately I have been having problems with my mail because there are a few things I never changed. ( electric bill, mtg etc..) lately my mail has been delayed and I think it is because they always have temps during the summer who don't know the usual routes..... Maybe they are confused by both of my last names..... It is just easier to have everything match..

My world is turning 360 degrees these past few days.. Vertigo!!! :crying:

I have never felt so bad in my entire life until I set foot in the US soil.. :blink:

Hello

I have left the K3 area but thought about how you all were, like esposadetucho and others

currently in "holidays" in the US

wish they were holidays where you do nothing like old times, but not really.

have some serious things going on at the same time, like visa, planning the move and others...

our son of 3 just left for 15 days holidays with his grand parents and I miss him

Husband took son , coming back tomorrow so I am alone at the flat

going to finish coffee and go out for jogging

Visa received : 09-11-09 valid till 03-10-10

October 10th entered US with Visa Waiver Program for 2 weeks holidays (not usual with visa received!)

had to go through secondary inspections to explain

November 25th entered again US with WVP, officer did not notice my green card visa

left US on dec 28 to avoid meeting the substantial presence test for IRS

Jan 9 2010 entered and activated green card though PHL port of entry

waiting for SSN requested with DS230 and 10 years GC

01-30 received tracking number for GC Welcome issued on 01-27

but not yet SSN

SSN expected by Feb 20 else I might go and ask for one regardless of DS230

GC expected by March 27

Feb 3 2010 update card ordered says to allow for 30 days

Feb 8 2010 update saying approval notice sent

Feb 12 2010 received GC card Permanent resident valid till 2020

Feb 18 2010 went to file ss5 for ssn card as not yet received and center would not find me in ssn files

Sorry I've been MIA...

Seren - We had my wife get a new passport and driver's license in India and applied for her CR-1 visa with her Married Name. But she was able to go and get her other IDs changed later in India without an problems.
