Hi Guys,

Just a question to see if this was "normal". I have had my green-card now for almost 2 years and I have been in and out of the US several times, no problems and it always went really fast. This time the officer at POE (in Philadelphia) took my picture and my fingerprints, after asking a few stupid questions like if I had another passport... just as if I was a visitor again. Have you been in a situation like this? I feel like complaining somewhere because I do not think that after going through the process of getting the GC we have to put up again with things like this.

I'm still going through the K1 process...but the only time i've heard of the fingerprints / photo was when i was pulled into Secondary and refused entry to the US. I have no idea why they did that to you if you have your Green card..

I posted something awhile ago about a new policy that was in place, but it was being taken the wrong way or something like that by border officials.

Dang I wish I could remember what it was, I'll keep looking for it.

Ok found it here it is

moved as requested by the OP

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

It's really annoying, but it doesn't look like border officials are taking it the wrong way. Biometrics are now required of all LPRs every time you enter (and that website implies they'll be doing it upon exit soon as well) as of January 18th, 2009. That sucks!

Yeah that's only referring to a land border crossing though. Anyone getting off of a plane will still have to go through it :(

I find it funny that the DHS video says they are doing it to "protect your identity," but surely it'd be more useful to steal a USC's passport than a green card. Is it not important to protect the identity of USCs? Why would they even bother pretending that's what this is all about?

Did you get a hair cut or change the color dramatically?

I know I sound silly but I had issues at customs with my Aussie passport when I had black hair and the passport I had white blonde!!! Hehe

thank goodness I'm updating my photo with my married name!
