Women who beat up on men do so knowing that the man won't usually fight back either, due to society's norms of 'men shouldn't hit women'....it's really sad.

Unfortunately society has a double standard when it comes to men. Men don't get abused they're the abusers and women are always the victims. And when men do report being abuse, then they are preceived as being less then a man. Tell your co worker to report her, the same way we would advise a female to report her husband that is abusing her.

The alternatives must be worse. I assume she would win custody of any kids and divorce/child support can be expensive.

Then there are those who think that abuse is a sign of love and jealousy or hope that the abusive spouse will change. Some people grew up in abusive households and think that's normal in most relationships. Many times a spouse gets divorced and chooses yet another abuser.
