I'm starting to actually have evil thoughts against all of you who sit on your high horse with your employer provided coverage.

I'm not on a high horse.

Me neither. My horse is quite low. Sickly, in fact. Poor thing doesn't have insurance. But I don't sweat it. There are other horses out there. When this one dies or becomes otherwise unable to provide me with the services I desire, I shall simply cast it away. I have the right to be serviced as long as I can pay for it, with that right comes no obligation to tend to past horses in my employ.

Rising premiums are a fact of life. Actual increases tend to be in the double digit percentages, employees usually see 10% or less because employers have been absorbing the rest.

Well, my husband has employer-provided health care, for the entire family, which has saved us, because my company's health insurance just increased TWENTY ONE PER CENT..... We are very fortunate to be able to drop the kids from my insurance and put them on his. However, should he lose his job or the insurance change, we won't have a choice but to go back to mine.

I do not believe that health insurance will be more expensive if a government option is added to the mix as proposed, much less if a single payer system was adopted. All indications from international comparison suggest that the fractured, incomplete, inefficient and profit driven system we are currently enslaved to comes with the heftiest price tag possible. Rising premiums are a given if we continue on the path we're on. I'm not prepared to keep sitting around and accept the unacceptable.

Seriously though...

In other countries where you can buy birth control & commonplace antibiotics & topical medicines over the counter... it is pretty helpful when you know what you need and are able to get it w/o seeing a doc...
