Hey All!!!

Just wanted to post some good news for a change  I just returned from a weekend in Indiana visiting my fiance!!!!! No problems at customs (was prepared with a letter from my employer, my return ticket and my lease for the condo). He asked me more questions than normal and wanted details of the last time I was in the U.S. but never asked me to prove ties to Canada :) Coming back here was easier than usual....questions were "Who did you go to see?" "My fiance" "Did you cry when he proposed?" "No, it was kind of an expected proposal." Then he handed my passport back and I looked at him funny and asked if we were done and, yep, that was it! WOO HOO!!! Only thing that got me wondering was that when they stamped my passport going into the U.S., there's a line for class and when they never usually fill anything out, they put B2 on mine. Dont know what it means but they still let me visit!!!!!:dance::dance::dance::dance:

Feeling great, had my fix for a bit. I can't wait for the future!!!!

Good luck to all!!!!!

Hey Gang!

So the euphoria is starting to wear off and the missing him is coming back but still smiling because it was a successful trip. :D Now I'm curious....why would they put a class B2 (tourist visa?) stamp in my passport..... This whole immigration thing is such a mystery to me

Anyone able to give me info about the interview process for the fiancee. My lady is in Vietnam and wants to get married 1st inVN vs. the K-1 VISA and then get married here because she fears the interview. What goes on and what are the questions? Do you take documentation and proof of contact? Any overall advice?

Thanks..

Azdesertdweller,

Why not start a whole new topic and post your question thereseparately? That way more people will see it and you will probably get some good responses.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Overall advice is that fear of the interview is no reason to go the marriaged based visa vs. the K-1 visa. She will have to do an interview either way.

Yeah, what Kathryn said. There are hundreds of K-1 topics and you are likely going to get buried here. There are many other members going through Vietnam in the Asia forum you can ask any question you want of. :)

x x x Now I'm curious....why would they put a class B2 (tourist visa?) stamp in my passport..... This whole immigration thing is such a mystery to me

To unravel the mystery:

quoted from US Embassy Manila website

B-1 visas are for business, including such things as a need to consult with business associates, negotiate a contract, buy goods or materials, settle an estate, appear in a court trial, and participate in business or professional conventions or conferences; or, where an applicant will be traveling to the United States on behalf of a foreign employer for training or meetings. The individual may not receive payment (except for incidental expenses) from a United States source while on a B-1 visa.

B-2 visas are issued for general pleasure/tourist travel, such as touring, visits to friends and relatives, visits for rest or medical treatment, social or fraternal conventions and conferences, and amateur/unpaid participants in cultural or sports events.

In most instances, consuls will issue a combined B-1/B-2 visa, recognizing that most business travel will also include tourist activities.
