Congrats Eveline!!!! What a relief huh? He is beautiful and at 8lbs 14oz, that's a healthy baby boy!! Well done, you must be so proud! Hope you are feeling a little better by now, take your time and get your strength back!

Kristi: I know what you mean about the ankles...mine were permanently swollen for about 4 months too. Now I keep staring at them they look so skinny by comparison.......It's about the only part of me that's skinny now, LOL! My doc says I can start exercising like walking and non strenuous stuff, so I'm all out of excuses now! Time to get out and about! Keep us updated on your progress, we should have news from you pretty soon, I'm guessing!

Hey gals. Sorry for not posting earlier. We were kinda busy. Well, you found the link with the pics and the birth story already but since most of you don't speak German, here's my little summary for you.

I went in on the 27 to get induced and they inserted Cervadil but Adam didn't like that. His heartrate kept hopping around between 90 and 110 which was definetely on the too low side, so they took the cervadil out and put me on Pitocin right that night. The next day I had some good contractions but nothing that I couldn't breathe through so I thought everything was alright. The docs kept checking on how dilated I was but there was no changes. I only went from 1cm and 25% effaced to 1cm and 50% effaced. They also couldn't really figure out his position and did extra US and they saw that he was postierior (head up looking toward the almost full moon that day). Well, they inserted a catheter that had a little ball on one end and blew up the ball with water in order to dilate me. It really hurt to get that thing in but it only took 20 seconds until it came back out. I was open 3cm. As soon as I hit four cm I asked for an epidural. Good thing I did cause there was some more catheters (bladder) and internal contraction monitors to come. At some point (I think around 4pm on the 28th) the doctor popped my water and at 6 pm I was fully dilated and 100% effaced. I pushed until midnight and they wanted me to sleep every now and then but it didn't work since the last epidural didn't really work for me and I needed something stronger. The anesthesiologist - who looked like an angel to me - gave me something and I slept for half an hour. When I woke up the pain and the urge to push was back and I was just wimpering and couldn't take it no more. I was trembling, sweating, crying - between contractions talking about coffee and cheesecake  - and you could have done ANYTHING with me. With every push, Adam only moved like one millimeter and I couln't get him to stay, he would always move back, which pushed his butt and feet rigth back into my ribs and I thought he's gonna pop one out. Well, there came the third shift change (it was about midnight, February 28th and I was in labor for more than 24hours, pushed for about 6 hours) and the OB came it. He looked at me and said "Ms. Andrews, you have two options...you haven't progressed in about five hours, you can either keep pushing if you want or we get the baby via csections". Well, needless to say that this was the question I was waiting for (kinda) and I said I wanted the c section. I didn't ask my husband (he was asleep then) or my MIL I just decided right then that I didn't wanna go on like that anymore. They wheeled me into the OR (my husband was awake and changed into hospital gear by then) and at 1am on March 1sth 2007 Adam Warren Andrews was born which a whopping 8bls 14oz and 22inches long. He is a big boy and has some abbrasions on his head from me pushing and from the monitors they inserted. He also had a cone head but that is gone by now.

Nobody ever told me - not even the baby story on TLS - that you swell like crazy down there from all the pushing. I didn't have any feeling there but I touched it on "accident" and it felt HUGE. My husband thought someting was wrong with me and almost freaked out, haha. Now we're back to normal, my staples are out and the scar is healing great.

Sorry, for posting so late. All the preggos here...enjoy the pregnancy and don't put too much hopes in a birth plan...it didn't work for me...Still it is a good idea to have one. All the nurses and docs read it and talked about everything they were about to do. I had great help with breastfeeding Adam and I love it. I could watch him suck away all day long.

My scars will heal and the pain will go away eventually and all I'll remember is that very first scream that I heard and then my husband jumped up, took pics and took off into the nursery (that was also in my birthplan, that I wanted my husband with the baby at all times after birth). Surgery itself wasn't great (I never had one before in my life) and I was dry heaving on the table, almost fainted and I was shaking like crazy from the epi but the anesthesiologist and the staff in the hospital were just so great. It was after all a good experiece, just a little different.

Gotta go, someone's asking for the milkbar, haha.

Hi moms and moms-to-be

I have my first ultrasound tonight....I can't wait.

Can anyone recommend a good pillow for sleeping. I was checking out the SNOOGLE it looks cool but its wayy expensive. Are maternity pillows necessary or will a body pillow, do the trick?

How much is the snoogle where you are? I paid about $50 for it here at Babies R Us. I saw that Boppy makes the same thing now for slightly less and has them at Target. I felt a little geuilty about spending the money, but it has been the best investment for me. If you're going to get a body pillow, go ahead and get the curved one. It really comforms perfectly with a pregnant woman's body. Later, when the hip pains and calf cramps come around, you'll be greatful to have that pillow and a couple of Tylenol PMs.

That first ultrasound is so great. It was a really emotional thing for me! Enjoy

Hi Allison:

Congratulations on your pregnancy (F) you're more than halfway there. Yay

Thank you for the advice, Snoogles are $49.99 ...when I saw it I was like whoa 50 bucks for a pillow :o

I will check out the Boppy pillows at Target. I need something because I was a stomach sleeper, and since that it out of the question I resorted to back sleeping, which is all that good either. Now I tyring to change sleeping positions again but find it hard to get comfortable on my side. I hope the pillows do the trick.

You'll be so glad you bought it. The curves make places to lay your head, and the other curved in goes right between your thighs/knees, and sort of cradles you. Another good use is that it makes a barrier between you and your spouse, avoiding those late night fondles. I found that one by accident!! LOL

I bought a regular body pillow for 10 bucks at SEARS and it worked wonders. I love that pillow and my husband bought one for himself. It was just so comfy to sleep with it even when I was 9 months preggo.
