Touches may be bad

In most cases, when govt. are going back to a case over and over again they are fishing for mistakes. And in most cases they always find one. Why so many touches and not many approvals. I only want these touches when i'm approved.

Touches don't always mean bad news. Our cases were touched numerous times and we were approved with no problems.

I know I filed VERY carefully. I found VJ before I filed, and I did it by the book. We quadruple checked every tiny bit of information. We've been together for a long time, saw each other a bunch of times, have tons of proof and our case is pretty simple (no kids, no previous marriages). So really, why would they be touching us so much to find mistakes if our application was so straight foward?

Touching in no way can be bad.

The fact that they are working your petition even if they find something wrong is still a good thing.Just look at the people that have been waiting for 6 months to a year and havent been touched ,you think they wouldnt like to see that someone is working there case?

Atleast if they do find something wrong with my case then i have a good chance to make any corrections or send additional evidence to comply with what they request.

But for those that are sitting there waiting and waiting and see no progress ,i feel so sorry for them.

Its one of the hardest things to do is be apart from the person that makes life enjoyable and jumping through all the flaming hoops put in front of me is something i hope i never have to do again.

Their is no way to know a good touch from a bad touch. All I know is that they HAVE to touch it to approve it.

I think that they are sorting them out since everyone is sending RFE's in all at once. But 4 touches in a row is strange indeed!!

I may be wrong, but a 'touch' just means.. someone looked at your file. It's pretty much an automatic update and doesn't imply that your application is scrutinized more carefully or that they're fishing for mistakes.

It may mean something as dumb as they told the summer intern to move stack A from room B to room C.

Your case may have a new "Last Updated" date and you may receive an Email Notification of your case being updated, without the status of the case changing. This is due to internal USCIS processing being performed on your Case. This will be reflected in the "Last Updated" date, but may not result in a different status message.

All this is is something is being updated in a database somewhere so whether or not they review it .. receive something new.. anything.. and on most people here I see their dates are very similar .. maybe even running a query to find out who is in a particular state counts too .

It's all speculation at this point, but for people being touched at least they know their peitition is back at the sevice center. Many people still have not even recieved news that their petitions have even been returned to the service centers yet or logged back into the system.

I think it's funny how people draw up so many conclusions about a process that's more or less a mystery.

Your application is in... now you sit and wait, you can't change anything by wishing it through with positive or negative thoughts, or assumptions. I'm learning to relax and accept it for what it is.... A process that I consider myself lucky to be involved in. It's amazing to think that I even met my wonderful Ania.

But as I understand it, it isn't *quite* an update. *Update* sort of implies progress, or new information, and touches seem to happen, well, whenever the document is touched. My suspicion is that touched is more or less for their records than ours; so if something gets lost they can say okay, NOA1 received, and then it's touched on date XYZ, here's where it might have been misfiled.

If they changed it to 'update' we'd get a lot of 'It says UPDATED but my status hasn't changed!' posts.
