I did have read the Guide and NVC site, I know that they require us to send either the original or the certified copies of Birth certificate, marriage certificate and police certificate. BUT to all those who just have filed and also have their case completed recently.... which one is less problematic? ORIGINAL or CERTIFIED ? Thank you for all your responses !!!

did CR1, we sent in certified copies... case not yet complete but we don't expect problems.

i have no clue what your originals look like, but here.. they're not accepted form of documents... government certified is the best for Philippines

If you can get certified from the issuing agency, you can send that. I sent my certified BC, while marriage certificate was original, so were the PCC. It didn't make any difference and got all my documents back on the day of my interview. They never asked to see original BC on the day of interview either, but I did have it with me for just in case situation.

silly question, but we got married in the USA and i was wondering, can my husband who is in the US now, get a certified copy of our marriage certificate from the issuing agency (the courthouse) if i have the original here in Australia?

i mean, do they just give ANOTHER copy of the marriage certificate to him, certified as coming from their offices?

thanks guys!

Hi, I also got married in the US at the court house. They give us the recorded marriage certificate at the same day with 2 certified copy. So, I think your hubby can get a certified copy from the court house. Good luck!

mrsemcee- You definitely can get a copy from them. I just got a copy of my grandmother's marriage certificate (for fun) from 1952.

Check here: http://chfs.ky.gov/dph/vital/mdcert.htm for the form and fees. He can order it by phone or mail.

i made the mistake of not understanding the entry "Certified copy of an original" :bonk: . I sent a Photocopy of the "Certified copy of an original". So I received a letter / Check List from the NVC requesting again a " Original or Certified copy of an original" of the Birth Certificate and Marriage Certificate. I called NVC and they told me just to send the Certified copy of an original, not a Photocopy of it along with the translation (again). NVC mentioned it would take another 2 - 3 to process.
