Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

The article seems to imply that we don't do anything but hit the refresh button. I put in loads of laundry IN BETWEEN hitting the refresh button. AND, my lesson plans are right here in front of me, thank you very much! :innocent:

Convert each heart into about 10 cases of that cheap pi$$ water you drink as beer. And the beauty of it is, I can keep my liver.

Oh my, I love to see the fine art of distraction at work. Its also a symptom of denial. The more voracious the attack the deeper the guilt. ;) Here this ones on me (L) But but, honey. I got three hearts today.

STFU.

I don't have a problem.

I'm entirely in control.

I can quit anytime I want to.

And I'm not in denial.

The only way I know to control my behavior is to go cold turkey. Half measures don't work. The idea of trying to control it with an alarm clock is just plain silly, at least for me.

I have a long sordid history with this nonsense, probably longer than many of you on VJ.

My first exposure was in 1989-90 on Usenet forums, when I discovered the alt.* hierarchy, in particular alt.politics.mideast and who can forget alt.sex.bestiality, lol!!!

I was an MSc student then, working on my thesis. There were literally entire DAYS and WEEKS in which I would wake up, determined to run a set of simulations (my thesis was CFD -computational fluid dynamics, so it involved running my numerical models and analyzing the results), get to the office at the university at 8am, get on Usenet, be there through lunch until 2PM when famished, I'd run out to the canteen for a sandwich, come back to the computer, be on Usenet till 5 or 6pm, go home. I probably delayed my graduation by a whole semester by being a f*ckwad doing that. This was before the Web, before HTML and HTTP were even glimmers in Tim Berners Lee 's eyes. Even back then there were nutjobs and freaks online. Even back then it was just as pointless as it is today to "prove" a point on politics or economics or ANYTHING to ANYBODY. And yet... there I was.. doing it. Unable to resist the urge. Until I finally graduated, and just went cold turkey off the grid.

Next was 1996-98, in the early days of the Web. When Netscape was still brand new, and many of us were still using Mosaic as a browser. Before Google - when Altavista was still king. And I got hooked on 2 forums - one called FoRK (Friends of Rohit Khare) which is still in existence to this very day. And the other called dist-obj, now long defunct, which I actually started with a bunch of friends. I was hooked even worse on FoRK and dist-obj, posting like crazy on both. The trouble was by then I had a job, I had a family with young kids. Internet addiction is a real disease my friends - this is no joke. Again, the only cure that worked for me was cold turkey. Just quit. Never load it again. Ever. Took me 3 years to overcome that one.

And then I was free! Blissful, happy. From about 1999 till this year, that's a decade of not falling off the wagon. The Web was just a tool, a way to book flights or check my stock portfolio. Not a source of misery.

Until, I started down the K-1 path. And did a Google search for online help for US immigration. And found you lot.

I want to know - who is to blame for setting up an OT forum here???? That person is responsible for destroying my life and career all over again!! :ranting:

I tell myself that once Thanti gets her visa and comes here, I will have no use for this ####### and be out of here. I really hope to have that willpower.
