I think it would be kinda fun to discover how everyone found out about VJ. Since the topic came up in another thread, I thought this might be kinda fun. :)

I found out about it early in the process, but since it wasn't a "lawyer" site, I thought that there wouldn't be any good info here. Well, after my fiance' got his NOA2, and we started (rather I started) researching what would happen next, I found VJ via a Yahoo! search. I believe I was looking up timelines.... The day I REALLY started to learn was the day I actually joined. He was at the medical exam in Dr. Seiden's office and I was across the street at Starbucks. So, I wanted to know about the next steps that frigidly freezing morning on March 2nd and the rest is history in progress! :)

How did YOU find out about VJ???

I found vj after I made the visit to see my honey but, before we filed for the k-1 visa. I found vj by doing a google search, I was thinking we needed an attorney to file but, once I found vj I knew that we could handle it ourselves. I was so fortunate to find vj because I was so lost and had no utterly idea what I was going to do.

I found VJ about 2 months after we filed our I-130 petition (we used a lawyer) when I found VJ I was thinking, that I wish I would have found the site sooner.. would have saved us a whole lot of money and headache.. the lawyer messed up a bunch of times and I had to straighten him out, using what I had learned from VJ...

Cutting & pasting here :D

I found out about it in the wierdest way, it was right before I sent my K-1 package and a friend on FB moved from Toronto to California. A friend of HIS wrote on his wall and said something like "You fell in love with an American too? You should check out visajourney.com" so I checked it out myself and have been here ever since.

Thank god because it saved me so much trouble, heartache, headache, tears and money! The only money I spent was on a "K-1 Fiancee do it yourself kit" I found on the internet a few months before I found VJ, it was sixty bucks and not very helpful. It was way out of date as it said you would get an EAD stamp at the POE, no doubt about it. So thank goodness I had VJ for everything from the K-1 package, interview prep, POE prep, car import, AOS help, then to remove conditons later!

Plus, I've met some wonderful people :)

We found it through Google as well.

If you search for "K-1 visa" it will pop up as the third entry, after travel.state.gov (US government Dept of State) and Wikipedia.

We found it well before we began filing our K-1, so when we were ready to put our paperwork together I had already read up the Guides, timelines, etc.

I found it through "Google" too! I did a lot of research and I found some web sites were telling some sketchy information, but VJ really seemed to be informational and helpful. I actually met a good friend through VJ, and we had our medicals on the same day, and we drove to Montreal together! :) I'm definitely thankful for VJ, I was able to do everything easily, and obviously, no lawyer!

I found VJ when I did a google search for K1 visa information. I knew the sending in of a petition for "an unmarried child of an American citizen," wasn't too hard as my father had done that in 2002 (he died in 2005). However, after my father had passed Carnell and I were discussing options available to us. We originally thought a K1 was the way to go go, but switched to a Cr-1 when life's circumstances changed. Thank goodness for this website and all the helpful people, many of you could easily compete with immigration lawyers for business!

I found out from a friend of a friend. When I got back to the US I called one of my girlfriends and told her I was getting married, she immediately told me she had a friend who had married someone from the Dominican Republic. She introduced us via e-mail, we talked on the phone, and thats when she gave me the gift of VJ. I was very lucky. It was before I filled the K1. I hadn't even thrown away my boarding passes yet.

I had lots of questions regarding filing our I-130 petition. So I Googled them and the answers were all found on this site. So, I then decided to join.

Hi Everyone,

What an interesting question indeed, that July09Bride asked here:

I think it would be kinda fun to discover how everyone found out about VJ. Since the topic came up in another thread, I thought this might be kinda fun. :)

How did YOU find out about VJ???

My answer to this question and as to "How did you find out about VJ?" story goes like this:

I had visited and married in the USA in April 2006, and was "stuck" here in the USA, while I was in the process of filing the AOS/2yr green card (which I filed in August 2006 and got approved in November 2006). So in July/August 2006, with nothing better to do (and with no legal permanent residency status yet), while waiting for my case, I went to my local library (which they were nice enough to give me a library card then), and did more research on my own (even though I already had a lawyer for my somewhat unusual case). I "googled" online regarding immigration information and thus found "Visa Journey".

I started reading the posts on VJ as a "guest", but didn't join as a "member" until January 2007.

And the rest is "VJ history".......

Fast forward 2-3 years later, and I'm still here on VJ (and will still be here for awhile), 1500+ posts later, still addicted to VJ. Since then, I've filed my I-751/10yr green card (which I filed in August 2008, but am still waiting for the card), am pregnant (due in July 2009), and am looking forward to filing for US Citizenship/Naturalization in August 2009....

Well, that's my (AntandD's) VJ story so far. Now it's your turn, "How did you find out about VJ?"

VJ is definitely a helpful, supportive, and friendly online community, indeed! Thanks everyone here for making VJ a positive and memorable expierience for all!

I wish I had found VJ long before Tim asked me to marry him!! Even before I went to see him for the first time, (after meeting him in Hawaii in '06) I had looked into immigration. I figured, if we're seeing whether or not we "click" then I might as well see what we're up against!! I knew enough to know neither one of us could just cross the border and say "I'm here!!" I found a site that explained what to put in a K-1 package, but that was it. Didn't mention the interview or what to expect. After Tim asked me to marry him, I explained what I found out, and we put the files together, and sent them off. I was looking for more information when I came across......VJ!!! I, too, was a "guest" for several days before I joined. I had a few questions here and there, (probably still do!), and I've found this site to be so helpful!! So far, we've done all of it ourselves, and the first part's almost over, with the interview coming up in June!!

I'm sure I'll be reading tons of AOS threads later in October. We're planning a middle Sept. wedding, and a two week road trip honeymoon. Perhaps we'll come home quickly to send off the files, and then go back on the road!!

I found this site not long after our lawyer had filed the I-129 for the K3, VJ was a link on our lawyers website, it was great news because then I saw timelines that showed CSC approving cases so quickly, we were expecting 6 months at USCIS. I starting getting together documents needed immediately but I wish I had navigated his web site more thoroughly a month earlier, we would have been a month further on than we are now, it took forever to get the police certificate from England.
