Port of Entry Review
Event Date
Port of Entry : Boston
POE Date : 2009-09-14
Got EAD Stamp : No
Biometrics Taken : Yes
Harassment Level : 10
Comments : Arrived by ship into Boston harbour, immigration officials board the ship and everyone is processed on board before leaving the ship, except us, they have not the means to process immigrant visas and didn't know what to do with us, after a lengthy wait they cleared us through customs and told us to take a taxi to Boston Logan Airport where they would have to deal with it. When we arrived at immigration at the airport they were not sure what to do with us either, evenually they took fingerprints stamped our passports with entry stamps and wrote CR1/CR2 in the middle of the stamp.

Consulate Review: Austria
Review Topic: IR-1/CR-1 Visa
Event Description
Review Date : October 21, 2009
Embassy Review : Ariived at consulate at 1pm with my son, thy scanned our posseions at security and took my cellphone, which was returned when we left.
Went straight to the window for immigrant visas where they looked through our files and took passports, we were told to take a seat, 15 mins later I was called to another window where fingerprints were taken, told to take a seat again, after 10 mins called again to window, female Consulate Officer asked a couple of questions, did not want to see any documentation or photos, she said everything seemed to be in order and to take a seat to wait the return of my original documents (son was not called or asked any questions. After a few minutes I returned to 1st window where I was given documents, they took my cellphone number and said they would call when visas would be ready to collect, probably the next day. At 10 am the next morning a lady called and said everything was ready just come and collect passports/visas.
We were there 30 mins all very quick, very nice embassy.
Rating : Very Good

POE Review: Boston
Event Description
Entry Date : 2009-09-14
Embassy Review : Arrived by cruise ship into Boston Harbour after transatlantic crossing. Immigration information given the day before told us all non US Citizens to be present in the main dining room at 6.30am as immigration officers would board the ship and everyone would be proccessed on board before disembarkation.
We were in a long line at 6.30am, made it to the front of line by 7.15am had my package and x ray ready for them, then the problems started, nobody knew what to do with us, we were told to take a seat and wait till their supervisor arrived, 20 mins later supervisor arrived and told us they didn't have the necessary equipment to process immigrant visas and didn't know what they were going to do with us (panic setting in we had an 11am flight booked out of Boston Airport) after much discussion they suggested we would be cleared of customs on the ship and were told to take a taxi to Logan and ask there if they could process us, we hurried of the ship collected our bags and took a taxi to the airport, traffic wasn't great but we arrived about 8.30 am and headed straight to immigration. More waiting, they didn't know what to do with us either as we hadn't arrived by air and they couldn't seem to find a carrier code to enter for the ship, finally someone else came into their office and took us through to the processing area, where our fingerprints were taken then passports stamped for entry (they just wrote in the stamp CR1) we just made our flight.
Harassment Level : High

*Notice about estimates: The estimates are based off averages of other members recent experiences
(documented in their timelines) for the same benefit/petition/application at the same filing location.
Individual results may vary as every case is not always 'average'. Past performance does not necessarily
predict future results. The 'as early as date' may change over time based on current reported processing
times from members. There have historically been cases where a benefit/petition/application processing
briefly slows down or stops and this can not be predicted. Use these dates as reference only and do not
rely on them for planning. As always you should check the USCIS processing times to see if your application
is past due.
