There's this white cat that is always on the back porch waiting for a chance to get inside my house. How do I get rid of it? Where's the owner? Should I call animal control?

Everytime I open a portion of the door, its head gets inside and it slide right through into the house. Everytime I would grab it and bring it outside. Then, it repeats again. What is wrong with this cat? My mother sprayed perfume on it because she think it's good luck. I think it's a nusiance.

Should I call animal control?

Uhm...before you call animal control - wouldn't the right/nice thing to do be taking the cat down to your local shelter yourself be better than having the same people who will catch a crocodile or mountain lion come snare the kitten?

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Bring him into the shelter nearest your home. Hopefully he's microchipped and has a home and is just lost. Regardless of his home situation though, at least at the shelter he'll be cared for and won't be going hungry.

(Or trying to sneak in your back door, for that matter :star: )

I cant believe the audacity of suggesting spray the cat with a hose or even calling animal control! Don't you have a heart? Sheesh!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

By any chance did you move fairly recently to your home? Is there a chance that former owners of the cat lived there and the cat sees your house as home?

Does the cat look hungry or well-fed? Doe you know if the cat belongs to a neighbour or not? You could put up signs in the neighbourhood saying you have a 'found' cat who wants his owners, although you may not have much success. The cat is obviously used to a house and if he didn't live there before, he lived somewhere - in other words he may be lost. You can phone the vets and the humane societies to see if anyone has reported a cat of his description in the area and hope that matches with a report. The best way to get rid of the cat is to find its owners or re-home him (sure you don't want a cat?).

Barring that, look for a no kill shelter in the area and take the cat to them. They will rehome it.

There are cat and dog repellents that you can get - you either spray the area or put down the granules in the area. You can buy them at hardware stores like Lowes or Home Depot or pet stores like PetSmart and PetCo. They have differing effectiveness and may or may not work.,

You could also aways start feeding the cat away from your house so the cat stops hanging around your place, although if no one is feeding him thee it might not work.

I really do wonder if the cat used to live there.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”
