Here's the situation,

The mother angry at the father for drinking so much that he doesn't even care said to him, "You caring means throwing the baby in the wok." In most Asian traditions, it's typical to make someone feel like a pos by making examples. The mother did just that. But, the father was too drunk to think straight.

I disagree it's the mother's fault.

OH MY GOD......How could they do this????I never understand cruel parents like these...

Are you reading from a different source? Because what you claim the woman said is very different from daring the man to throw the baby in the wok, as the OP article states.

Lai translated the Chinese article for me. It agrees with the English article in the OP: the mother said, "If you have the guts, drop her (in the wok)," she wasn't simply saying his lack of caring was like throwing the baby in a wok. It does give a different order of events, though, stating that the father already was holding the baby over the wok when the wife taunted him, as opposed to him grabbing the baby from her after the taunt. Which actually makes it worse, since the baby was in immediate danger when the taunt was made.

Lost in translation.

Which translation? Considering the event occurred in Taiwan (where Chinese is spoken), and the article Lai (who is Chinese) translated from is from a Taiwanese newspaper, I'm inclined to trust her translation.

That's horrendous. It's sad that this is hardly an isolated event and similar situations occur all over the world.

I think both the mother and the father are to blame. When someone is intoxicated and angry, the very last thing you want to do is challenge them. Don't dare the drunk to hurt anyone -- that includes you, your child, other family members, friends and pets.

Someone who is very drunk won't think straight. Since you're (probably) not drunk, it's your job to think logically as the other person won't.

I don't care how angry or drunk you are, you are a monster if you can drop a baby into boiling water. Firstly, the monster needs to be terminated to prevent harm to others in the future. Lets face it, this PoS is a total sicko and a danger to society. If the mother dared the monster to throw the baby in the water, then happy for her to be taken out also. Sick b*stards.
