AOS Filers - May 2009!

Hey Cartman, to avoid confusion, can you delete your duplicate spreadsheet? I already had one going. Thanks!

hey rexalite...sorry abt tht.....

I just composed one that was similar to march and april spreadsheets....it has some more columns/information as compared to yours that could be helpful to others....at first i tried to just update ur spreadsheet to look the same..but urs wasn't editable in the beginning....tht's why i had to create another one tht everyone would have access to for editing.....

if you don't mind, we can continue with the spreadsheet i created and delete yours....

if not, i would have "absolutely no problem" deleting mine.....we can always add fields or update urs.....

let me know.....

Cartman - I am not particularly invested in the spreadsheet, people can use yours instead. But I have to say, I am finding you a bit .... troubling. When you first posted on this thread, your timeline said you had filed your AOS in the middle of April, and you posted on the April filers thread wanting to do that spreadsheet. Now your timeline says that you filed in May, and you go and create a duplicate spreadsheet even though there's a ton of posts about the spreadsheet I created. Obviously the non-weird thing to do would be to add fields or update mine, but instead you totally ignore it. What could the motivation possibly be? Why would you say before that you filed your AOS in April if you hadn't? I don't get it.

well..i did file in april...but my package was returned because of a mistake in the I-485 form....thts why i had to resend my application and change/update my timeline....

and as i said earlier, i tried to update ur spreadsheet, but it was un-editable....tht's why i had to create another one....

anyway, lets just forget everything.....i have deleted mine...and will update urs later in the day when i get time.....or anyone else can do it before i can....

sorry for the trouble rexalite..and other VJ members who got confused or troubled!!!...i didn't mean to mess things up.....

Hello everyone!

I am offcially a May AOS filers I sent my husband's paperwork yesterday!

Any questions feel free to ask!.

XOXO,

Hello there, congratulations on filing your papers, me and my new wife will be filing ours HOPEFULLY by the end of this week/weekend. I have just noticed on your timeline on the very last line about your social card. At the end you have wrote that DHS authorization is the I-94 arrival card. Is this true? If so am i able to work right now without having filed the work authorization papers and AOS? Im a little confused here, i would love it to be able to work right now, im kinda going insane here, haha.

I would appreciate it if anyone can clarify this

Thanks Stuart

Wow, this sounds bad. But the information on the fact that they accept my license wasn\'t on the michigan website either. I\'ve heard California is pretty easy with that...

Even it is really annoying, just try it again. And if you don\'t get the information you need, just keep bitching till you can talk to the manager :)

Thanks everyone ,

Regarding your question, yes the DHS authorization is in the I-94 they stamped "Athorized to Work" on the back but that's only in JFK airport. But still by reading the guides there is a document from SS offcie saying K-1 are supposed to be authorized to work and be given a SS#. Right now I don't know where but its in the guides, i'll show you later.

Take care,

Congrats Kiwiana and Nanda! things are moving forward already! How exciting!

I have a question for any of you who live in California about driver's license, I went to the DMV and I was told I need my EAD. I'm fine with that but how is it going to work? I have a French driver's license. I know I'll have to pass the written test. What about the driving part? Will I have to practice? Any info is welcome.

Thanks,

Alice

Hi all, this is Chelsea, US Citizen based in VA, and my husband is Josue from Guatemala (came on K-1 4/19). We were married 4/20 and we are in the process of gathering the paperwork for the AOS now, slow going as other things just plain ole' seem more important...we are closing on our new house in two weeks and we just got a puppy!

But, we need to get his EAD so he can start working asap so hopefully we will be able to send off our package next week!

@ WeAreTogetherNow - have you gotten your driver's license yet? The DMV gave us trouble saying Josue needed to show proof of residency and I had added him to my bank account and had the bank print out that we had a joint account at the same address but they wouldn't accept it; they said we needed a utility bill or a bank statement actually mailed to the house in his name.

Also, we don't know if he can drive using his Guatemala license or not. Any ideas?

hey chelsea! I'm glad you all are doing well!

Yader just went to take his driver's license exam yesterday (passed!!) and we were told by Highway Patrol (who gves the test) that we just needed his passport and I-94 (this is in MO). THey just looked it up under K-1. But when we went to the other side at the DMV, and they said, oh yeah, that's right we only need his I-94, passport, etc. but ths I-94 expires on 5/22, so they wouldn't give it to us!

they said we have to wait until he has work authorization. He has a SSN already and I took that and showed it, but they said no just EAD.

So ... I don t know! Confused. I looked it up on the MO DMV website and it has a list of all the necessary documents for immigrants, and "adjustment of status' is listed sayng that he only needs a passport...so I guess we are gong to wait for our NOA1 and try again.

HEADACHE!

Good luck!

Here it is , its in the VJ guides in the part where it says " How to get a Social security". or something like that.

Good luck,

https://secure.ssa.gov/apps10/poms.nsf/lnx/0100203500

Thanks everyone ,

Regarding your question, yes the DHS authorization is in the I-94 they stamped "Athorized to Work" on the back but that's only in JFK airport. But still by reading the guides there is a document from SS offcie saying K-1 are supposed to be authorized to work and be given a SS#. Right now I don't know where but its in the guides, i'll show you later.

Take care,
