why it is dangerous place?

because there is a lot of crime.

Just the other day, 8 Filipinas disappeared without a trace... :o

Stop scaring nubies

sweetgurl: After Katrina in 2005 , crime in NO has skyrocketed, and the police and courts can't keep up with the backlog. Very sad situation indeed.

And in India, it refers to a hot desert wind. In Maori culture it refers to the lint that gets stuck to your bellybutton from cheaply made (read 'Chinese') garments. In Rwanda, it refers to a specific manufacturing technique for machetes, intended to inflict maximum damage.

How or what does Hurricane Katrina have to do with the crime rate? But anyway, what about those towns / cities that took in New Orleans residents after Katrina and had a dramatic increase in crime. Funny coincidence hey.

I would like to see the demographic of those cities in that list. But I am sure we all know the answer. Hence, why nothing improves in this country. Deny deny deny.

May want to learn how the chain of command works before blaming homeland security. This is not Australia or Canada. They legally cannot just go in and take over without permission.

PS :secret: New Orleans (you know the actual city) had a good 30 years to plan for such a catastrophe.

Edited by Constellation

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

In previous years NO had always been deemed the murder capital. However, for the past couple of years, others had taken the title. I’m surprised to see it back up there again.

I thought Philly over Camden would have made the list this year with all of the cop killings. I guess with Camden being smaller the crime to population ratio puts it higher on the list.

The cabbie i spoke to NO said the crime was really bad in the outer neighborhoods of the city. He didn't mention anything having to do with illegals, but he said that the city was overrun with gangs...

Wow, this librarian is impressed.... in Tibetan it refers to a certain class of snake-like beings known in Sanskrit as 'nagas' living below the ground who are belived to cause skin diseases and cancer - they also bring rain though so it's a fine balance keeping those critters happy.

In Hebrew "loo" means (roughly) "If-only" ... for example, there's a famous song from the Yom Kipppur War period, 1973, called "Lu Yhi" (or Loo Yhi, I suppose) which means "If only it were so". The theme of the song is essentially ... if only there were peace and good things etc etc

I get a certain satisfaction in being able to work in the themes of Hebrew, Israel, and peace into a thread that began with a rather inflammatory atavar (just scroll to the top if you missed it). I'm all in favor of a two-state solution for Palestinians and Israelis that recognizes the legitimate needs of both peoples. I rather doubt that's the sentiment the OP has in mind with that avatar.
