Thanks to everyone's help, and following the guides on this website, Syelvia's visa got approved with much less hassle & stress than I thought.

She now has the visa in hand, which I guess is a sticker type thing for her passport or something like that. She's probably sleeping with it under her pillow, hahahahaha.

So now we're looking at flights for her to come out here next month (from Indonesia).

1st thought was to book her a 1 way ticket, as I'd expect that to be cheaper.

But then I started wondering if she would run into complications getting out of Indonesia, or worse off, getting into America, if she didn't have a return flight scheduled within 90 days, since the fiance visa is a 90 day visa, and to US immigration, just because she is coming here, in their eyes she doesn't get to stay unless we marry.

Based on that logic, are we supposed to book her a round trip ticket???

Although K1 is a non-immigrant visa, the logic is that it is a single-entry with the intent on marrying, then filing to adjust status. Thus, the visa-holder would not need to show proof that they can/intend to return to their home country.

A one-way ticket is fine if that is the cheapest option.

One way is fine. It may be cheaper to buy round trip (no kidding!) and not use the return flight, but check prices

US customs does not care how she returns if you don't get married

Yup, getting a return can be cheaper by several hundred ..... I was eyeing some tickets for 2-3 weeks before my interview and they were $1700 return AU$ vs $2400AU$ for one way ... after the interview I went to book and because of the holidays coming up the airline raised the same exact tickets up by $400-500 (I was eyeing several) ... Shay ended up finding me one way via San Francisco to Boise for $730 ... sooo look at all options it can make a huge difference even over a day or two...

My husband (then fiance) got me round trip ticket, but no questions asked about it from the immigration of both countries (Indonesia and the US). So I'll say just go with the cheaper ticket (sometimes one-way is cheaper, sometimes otherwise.... depends on airline and travel season, I think).

Hi I am in a very similar cituation. I have sponsered my mom to come to the US with a permanant Visa. Her passport states something along the lines of Immigrant Visa 180 days. Do we buy her a one way or a round trip?

Thanks!
