Darnit! I went to Borders that night to purchase the series, but they were just closing. So then I went yesterday and couldn't remember the name of it! :bonk: So instead I bought Eat Pray Love and The Passage by Justin Cronin.

Oh #######. I just googled it so I could include a link. I had no idea it was a Vampire book. I hate scary books and movies!!! :crying: I wonder if I can take it back?

I also bought The Gourmet Cookbook. Ohhhhhhhh MAN. I just googled it and see it on Amazon for tons cheaper!!!! :bonk:

This week sucks.

Bookstores always seem to be more expensive than good ole' Amazon! There are a bunch of Borders closing though and I got a lot of books for crazy cheap.

List of Borders stores closing

Midnight's Children by Salman Rushdie. I goofed up and somehow bought two copies of this book. So I figured I might as well put one to good use.

One of my favorite books of all time.

Thanks Marilyn. I looked at their return policy and it said store credit. So I took them back and they actually refunded them! Was very happy about that.

Oh wow. I had no idea they were in so much trouble. Will try to check some of those out. Thanks, Moosker!

Recent Books:

Bossypants - Tina Fey - She is funnier than i thought she was (audio book)

South of Broad - Pat Conroy (not his best story, but his writing is sometimes so beautiful, it makes me cry)

My Reading Life - Pat Conroy - this is a man who loves, loves, loves, loves books and writers. (audio book)

The Red Queen - Philippa Gregory - (historically interesting, but she has written better books)

Committed - Elizabeth Gilbert (interesting journey through the U.S. immigration process)

Living from the Overflow - Michael Beckwith (inspiring)

I read through the first few chapters of Eat Pray Love and returned it back to my friend, but I know some people absolutely loved it! I personally think the author dragged her experiences out to make a book, I just felt like there was excessive detail, and didn't really see a story line. Just my personal thoughts though!

Boo! Sorry you all didn't have much luck with Borders! Keep an eye on the list though, they update it with new ones that are closing.

Anyone read 'The Tales of Alvin Maker' by Orson Scott Card?

We're currently listening to this on audio during the commute to and from work.

Curious tale - not exactly fantasy, but definitely an alternate world. I wouldn't call him the most exciting writer (drags out the descriptions to the n-th degree)and neither would I say the readers chosen are all that exciting to listen to, but I'm still wrapped up in the darn story none the less!
