The Employment Authorization card arrived in the post today All together it took around 90-days, so not to bad. I'm now just waiting for the adjustment of status to be sorted, it was transfered to California so hopefully I wont get an interview.

The tax transcripts are stand-alone documents and don't need further forms to go with them. The tax info should be current on the date the I-864 was signed. So if before April 15, 2009 the 2007 was the latest return. I-864s signed after April 15, 2009 should use the 2008 return. The exceptions would be if more than a year had passed since the I-864 was signed, they could ask for an updated tax return. Or if there was an RFE because of something lacking in the I-864 submission, the evidence would have to be as of the date of the RFE. I interpret this to mean that.. say you get an RFE for the I-864 in June of this year. Then the tax return info should include 2008 because that was the latest tax return for the June RFE date. To answer your question about transcripts vs tax returns--We did a combination for both the K1 and AOS and were fine. Last year when I ordered transcripts for the K1 (I-134), The IRS sent me 2005 & 2006, but said the 2007 transcript would not be available until November. So I used a printout of my Turbo Tax return with W2/1099 and transcripts for the other two years. For AOS, I just used the same things.

Here's to hoping! Truth be told, we could care less about RFEs at this stage.

That is exactly how we felt. At the time I filed there seemed to be a bunch of "lost" medicals on the forum. So I decided to not bother sorting out the nonsense of the "new" I-693 and TST if they were going to lose the medical from the brown envelope. I even told Nick to ask the guy at POE if he could please copy the medical sheets and give to Nick as a backup since so many were being "lost." Mr. POE declined. As it turned out the GC was received without RFE. I hope it works out that way for you too.

Well today I can track our AOS case on the USCIS site and it shows it as being transferred to CSC on the 13th April *fingers crossed* this means no interview

Just got confirmation from the SSN people that my replacement card is on its way (despite having a number, I lost the card itself back in '06). An interesting little bit of info for you here: in the letter they sent me, it states that by law, the SS office can only issue you with 3 replacement cards per year, and 10 in a lifetime. So if you're a real klutz, you may be in trouble.

Good morning UK friends. Somebody recently asked me for my list of what I sent for AOS. This is modified from my cover letter and may help some of you get the big picture of what to start preparing. This is for K1s.

I-485 (Adjustment of Status)

Photographs (2) of immigrant (passport type)

Photocopy of birth certificate of immigrant with translaton

Photocopy of passport biographical page and K1 visa page

Form G-325A Biographic Information Sheet (immigrant)

Form I-864 Affidavit of Support (by USC) with photocopies of supporting documents: This varies by each applicant so here's generic suggestions

---Employment letter

---3 tax returns including copies of W2s (Photocopy)

---six recent pay stubs (Photocopy)

(If needed)Form I-864 Affidavit of Support (by Co-sponsor) with photocopies of supporting documents:

---Proof of co-sponsors citizenship/status, ie US birth ceritificate, bio page of passport, naturalization papers, or LPR status

---Employment letter

---3 tax returns including copies of W2s (Photocopy)

---six recent pay stubs (Photocopy)

Photocopy of I-797 Notice of Action, I-129 Petition Approval Notice from USCIS (That's your NOA2)

Certified copy of Marriage Certificate

Photocopy of Form I-94 Arrival/Departure record (card from the plane, may be stapled in passport)

Form I-693 with the immunization section filled out by a US Civil Surgeon, signed and sealed by him. Read the instructions for the form.

or DS-3025 from UK medical if all shots were completed at Knightsbridge if you want to take that chance

I-765 (Employment Authorization)

Photographs (2) of immigrant (passport type)

Photocopy of passport biographical page and K1 visa page

Photocopy of Form I-94 Arrival/Departure record

I-131 (Advance Parole travel document)

Photographs (2) of immigrant (passport type)

Statement of circumstances that warrant issuance of advance parole

Photocopy of passport biographical page and K1 visa page

Photocopy of Form I-94 Arrival/Departure record

And a check for $1010 made out to the Department of Homeland Security

That's 3 separate applications with supporting evidence all mailed together in one envelope with one check. They will get processed in different places, so that's why the duplication of evidence. You don't have to do all three, but the second two are free if sent with the AOS and will get you authorized to work or travel sooner than waiting for the green card to arrive in most cases. Green card could take 6 months. Work and travel 60-90 days.

Do not work until the I-765 is approved and you have the EAD card

Do not leave the US until the I-131 is approved (K1s) and you get the travel documents or you will not be allowed back in. Once you have a green card, then no problem.

That's speedy. I put you in the TIMELINE.

I think that little document will help answer questions when people post "how long did it take you to get NOA1?" We can just post a link to the timeline and tell them to have a read. I like that it's filling up with data. Thanks for letting us know.

Hey all! Great idea for the thread, and glad to see so many familiar faces here.

Our quick update: Keith arrived in the US last November 19th. Got married Dec 12th. Filed for AOS on Feb 2nd (ish, it's in the timeline, but important part, w/in the 90 days and before I-94 expiration). Transfered to CSC late last month. Received EAD, and AP early this month. So, keeping our fingers crossed for similarly speedy Green Card approval.

Oh, a note for New England based folks. We needed the civil surgeon to update the vaccination supplement, etc. It felt weird to send off the documents to someone in another state, so we tried one of the local civil surgeons.

Can you both comment on what you did about the I-693 and whether you sent one. Did you need additional shots in the US? Did you take a TB skin test? We're adding that info to the Timeline to see what a variety of UKers did. Keep us updated on your progress.
