I have been reading over some of the possible interview questions they might ask my fiancee when we get to the interview stage, and I have questions about some of them:

  1. "When did your fiance ask you to marry him?" It didn't happen this way. There wasn't a "proposal" in the traditional sense. I honestly can't even remember the day when we decided to go for the K1 visa, so I don't know how my fiancee will remember. It wasn't exactly memorable, we just decided we wanted to be together forever and started to figure out how we could best do that. We settled on the K1 route. How does my fiancee go about telling this to the immigration interviewer?
  2. "When is the wedding date?" It seems foolish to set a date seeing as we have no idea when she will actually have the visa in hand (any number of things could make it a short or a long process). What does she tell the interviewer?
  3. "What do you currently do for a living?" She quit her job a month ago so she could move back home and spend time with her parents before she gets the visa and moves to the U.S.. Is this an appropriate answer/situation?

K1: 01/15/2009 (mailed I-129F) - 06/23/2009 (visa received)

AOS: 08/08/2009 (mailed I-485, I-765, & I-131) - 10/29/2009 (received GC)

Totally agree with you on 1 & 2. See my post http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...t=#entry2780731

My fiancee was asked 1/ and replied "around Jun or Jul 2008 before [he] filed out I-129F."

Tell them what they want to hear & sadly sometimes the truth & honesty result in devasting results. That happened to me.

Good luck.

About ___ months when we knew loved each other and wanted to spent the rest of our lives together. b]

"When is the wedding date?" It seems foolish to set a date seeing as we have no idea when she will actually have the visa in hand (any number of things could make it a short or a long process). What does she tell the interviewer?

As soon as I get to the US and recover from jet lag.

"What do you currently do for a living?" I quit my job a month ago so I could move back home and spend time with my parents before I move permanetly to U.S to be with the love of my life.

Hint!

Tell her when she answers questions to sneak in how much you love each other or how much she loves you anytime she can.

Don't get too wound up or too prepared or he might smell a rat.

If you have every question ready to fire back at him he might think you have a formula to follow

He asked me where we met and I went 'um ar well - you know - it was a wet sunday and dark and cold so I went on a dating site and there she was and we got talking. I go to the U.S. often for holidays so I dropped in and had a coffee and and expected her to be like a tank but she wasnt - she was fab ! and it sort of took off from there !.'

I could have said the month but not the date we met - as I say, if it's too polished a performance then it's not quite believable...

If you are genuine then there is nothing to worry about and there will be no trick questions to trip you up - they cant

So just relax and talk freely and it will be fine

Don't try even the slightest lie and just take it as it comes

I didnt prepare at all and you shouldnt have to

its all over in 5 mins max

Typically they are more concerned that the beneficiary knows what the USC does for a living. Her answer is honest and fair. My wife did the same thing stopping work to get the packet prepared.

Don't get too hung up on the wording of the question. The answer and the believability is what's important. Sounds like your situation for the "when did he ask" is similar to ours. We spent a week at the coast discussing our thought/feelings/etc. and knew that we wanted to be together and start this whole process.

My suggestion is to make sureyour fiancee feels comfortable and confident telling your "love story." Not a canned response as others have warned against. A comfortable story that should make her smile as she tells it. :)

You cannot state this with any accuracy or authority.

This is one of the most irresponsible statements that I have ever read on VJ.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

I assume some of these responces are attempts at humor. Use some simple common sense & dont over think this situation. As was suggested just insert the truth after each question. Remember they see every personality disorder there is so dont try the cute answers.

# 1 Just pick a month that you both decided to move ahead with your life together. # 2 We will marry after making the final decisions based on the date of entry to the USA.

# 3 Homemaker.

Another question. I've been reading that consulate officers want to see not only me calling and initiating conversations w/ my fiancee, but apparently they also want to see her doing the same with me. Here is the problem:

1.) I can't prove that she has called me on my cell (the only phone I have).

2.) I can't prove that she has sent me text messages.

Why you ask? According to my cellular provider, I can only obtain this information with a subpoena due to "privacy laws". Now I've heard everything. :bonk:

Anyway, what I do have is (as far as proving an ongoing & legitimate relationship:

1.) A record of text messages I have sent to her (no content, need a subpoena for that too)

2.) All emails she has sent to me

3.) Some instant messenger convos with screenshots showing webcam activity

4.) Call logs showing I have called her

5.) Receipts for flowers I have sent her

6.) e-cards from her

7.) itineraries, passports stamps, etc showing almost 3 months of time spent in Thailand spread over 4 trips since I met her

8.) lots of photos

Does this seem sufficient, or should I be doing/collecting more?
