question 28 on form DS156 ask about who will pay for the trip to the usa. This is my fiancee filling out this form. if she puts down " fiance will pay for the trip", basically I, the petitioner, will pay for it. Will this raise a red flag of any kind?

I believe my wife indicated that she will pay. "After I provided her with the funds to pay for the trip"

We used the example DS-156 form VJ and simply stated "Myself"

Note this question is on DS-156, NOT on DS-156K

I think no, unless there is something specific to Ghana. She is coming to marry you, I cannot imagine it is a problem. I think (without opening that box and looking inside) that we responded "NA, K-1 visa for marriage" Worked for Kiev.

That too will work, because DS-156 is used for many different types of NON-Immigrant visas like visitors, and student visas, so some questions doe not apply in all cases.

Just follow the example form, or be honest, for K1 that bit of information won't matter that much, the same form is used for tourist, student and work visas so in those cases they want to know if the person travel can afford their trip or if they might just remain in US and end up in need of government aid or some sort (or be deported at US's cost).

I put myself on my Fiance's form...because it was the truth. No problems in Nicaragua.
