Do you, like, actually know someone who is gay? I mean...really, for real gay?

Yes I've had close friends who were gay and bisexual. One who was quite at odds with her own feelings due to religion, she had therapy. I also have the distinct misfortune of knowing a gay who definitely needs therapy, because he's one who scares the sheep.

And I think Paul or Saul highly lauded in the Bible was quite gay and definitely tried to 'therapize' himself. So what is making you hateful about this? They are free to do as they wish, I'm fairly sure the therapists wouldn't promise to DEgay them. But if someone wants to curb their gay tendencies I hope they are celibate and not making themselves bone the unattractive opposite sex, that's almost worse than beneficiary visa fraud. :) Peace!

anyway the therapists just said they will help the people deal with what the people perceive as issues, I doubt the OP was saying anything more damaging than sarcasm and absurdity of the idea of 'talking' people out of being gay. so I wondered where your hate was aimed....? seemed a reasonable question to me, no need to hate.

"...is English your first language, darling? *patpats*"

Ms P. You really need to ask yourself if english is YOUR first language. If it is you would have read the article and not just the title and the first few lines. If you had done this there is a good chance you would not have realized the intentions of this poor OP. Try again, and take your time to digest the whole article.

OMFG! Here have an arsehole!

...is English your first language, darling? *patpats*

Unfortunately, there's no cure for Marc....he has terminal sh!tmouth combined with p###y-lips. He tries to cover his affliction by riding a Harley and wearing leather....but anyone can see that mouth from miles away. "Look! Here comes sh!tmouth, p###y-lips!"

Is that a cocoa puff stuck in your mustache? It looks a little moist!

Bring it, sh!tmouth, p###y-lips. You desperately needed your ####### kicked a long time ago....probably would have cured you of your affliction.

the current teaching in psychology is that the therapist's role is to help the client reconcile their actions with their cognitive schema, provided that the actions pose no immediate threat to the client or those around him/her. therapists are taught to be non-judgemental in their efforts to reduce conflict within the client.

feelings of guilt or remorse about homosexual urges or practices within a client signal a conflict between the urges/practices and the schema. in such cases the therapist may choose to work with the schema, or the urges/practices, depending on which would more readily bring the schema and the lifestyle into synch. this choice would be made on a case by case basis, in the interest of reducing the axis 3 presentation of the client.

Just read the title of the article again. Therapists offer gay 'treatment'. You see what they did there, with the punctuation? It sets the tone for the article (and subsequent thread) that there is no treatment and that those who think different are deluding themselves.

If the article was propogating an actual treatment the title would have read: Therapists offer gay treatment. See the difference.
