I have yet to find the answer to this question and I may seem trivial. I know that the petitioner needs to call USCIS to get updates on the case they will not allow information given out to the beneficiary. Who is allowed to call NVC or DOS to receive information on the petition?

I am not sure sorry, my SO called NVC about a hundred times, which I wasn't able to do from where I was. It can be cost prohibitive from the other side of the planet. All you can do is give it a go and let us know

I can explain it to you. But I can't understand it for you.

I was the beneficiary and was able to call the NVC, which I did frequently :)

the beneficiary can call, you need the case # and the petitioner and beneficiaries date of birth...once they find out you are not the petitioner, you can expect the level of service to drop...i don't mean that in a negative way, by any means, i have seen it happen though....

Thanks for the info.

I just called to see whether they received our case (not likely cause its only been a few days).

Wow, so nice to deal with DoS instead of DHS....person on the phone was friendly.

I was the one who kept calling the NVC and I'm the beneficiary. It was never a problem.

They wanted the case number, our DoBs and sometimes they'd ask me to verify a phone number or email.
