I sent my I-751 on the 03-03-09. VSC received it 03-06-09 and they cashed my check 03-10-09 but I have not received anything official regarding receipt from VSC. I am starting to get worried because it seems the average wait is 10 days. Or am I being paranoid?

Try not to worry. It took my wife 10 days to get the NOA and my step-daughter 20 days. VSC is not always consistent. If you don't receive the NOA after 30 days, call the USCIS 800# and ask them about it.

Try not to worry too much. Is there a number on the cashed check image? That would probably be the NOA letter number because the number on my cashed check is the one show up on the NOA. So if you have that number, may be you can call the 1800 and they may be able to tell you if they've already sent out the NOA or not. But I really wouldn't worry too much, wait till the middle of next week, then call. I've read some people actually never got the NOA and they have to end up going infopass to get their passport stamped, wish that's not the case for you. Good Luck!

Don't worry, it took awhile for my wife. VSC received my wife's application 0n 8/16/2008 and cashed the check on 8/22/2008, but she did not receive her NOA1 until September 11.

We have the exact same filing date but different service centers. I received my BIO notice this past Friday but never received NOA1.

Called USCIS and they said to call them back a month after filing if NOA1 does not appear.

I suggest you call them if nothing happens by 4/3.

Last night I received the I-797C, Notice of Action. Is that what is referred to on this site as the 'NOA1'?

I checked on my case online today with the receipt number on the letter and there is no record of my case.

But, I have a physical letter acknowledging that they cashed my check and informing me that my crs is extended for 1 year so I do feel a bit better.

The envelope was posted 3/23.

Yes, the I-797C Notice of Action (NOA) is the NOA 1 that people refer to. That is your 'extension letter' that states it extends your green card status for one year for work and travel purposes.

Don't worry about the case number that is on your NOA and on your cheque - that is an internal number for USCIS purposes only and isn't linked to any of the status case updates online. You will need to wait for your Biometrics (ASC appointment) letter. You will notice that has a different case number on it and that is the number that you should be able to use for following your online status. For most people it works right away but for a few it doesn't seem to be activated until after they do their biometrics.

What is the deal with walk-ins regarding biometrics? I am considering trying this Saturday and if no luck, then no harm no foul. My students are testing during the period that my Bio. is scheduled and while I will be allowed to take a half-day, I would prefer not to.

Is there anything regarding this I should know about?

Hi,

You can do an early biometrics, there's no harm in doing that. Other VJer and myself have done it and our case online had their dates updated. I did it on saturday as it was convenient and the our ASC was open on saturday (most ASC) are open on saturdays.

Milwaukee was kind enough to do our daughter the same day as my wife where hers was scheduled a week later, we took her out of school to save yet another 450 mile round trip. Dressed nice for your photo.

In those days, both my wife and daughter were scared stiff, their entire future was a stake and those armed guards with guns certainly didn't help. It was good I was with them, they went completely brain dead for filling out that hand written form, their hands were shaking so bad, I filled those out for them and had them sign them. But we were in and out of there in about 30 minutes, my daughter needed my hand around here shoulder for comforting as she had to walk in alone, wasn't allowed to walk back with her, then we went out for lunch and enjoyed the sites downtown Milwaukee had to offer. Came home and waited 14 months and one week from the day we sent the application in to finally receive their ten year green cards.

Wife only got to keep hers for seven weeks, we applied for USC on her right away, daughter did a stupid thing by turning 18 before we could send in the N-400 so has to wait those extra two years. Wouldn't have had to, if the USCIS was timely, but being timely is not apart of their organization.
