My case is so slow

I must admit, my case is unnaturally slow. So slow, I had to stop coming here because it was depressing me too much to compare dates with others. I received my NOA in november, my biometrics was at the end of January, and my interview date is set for May! I haven't received anything yet for the EAD.

This delay is overwhelming, and frightening. People tell me to simply wait and not stress out over it. But it's easier said than done. Every morning I wake up thinking about the mail, and hoping "today will be the day" something positive will come in. Are others out here experiencing the same long delays as I am?

Frenchy, I agree that your case is slow BUT you already have the interview date, and this is the most important thing. I don't understand what you are complaining about. Believe me, there are a lot of people who were/have been waiting for the interview much longer than you! I understand your frustration about EAD but your interview is in one and a half months and after that you won't need the EAD anyway. So, a little bit more patience and your green card will be coming in the mail soon

And by the way, congratulation on your interview appointment!

The advice is spot on...try not to stress over it. As far as slowness...by the time of you interview...your process will have taken 6 months, which is right in line w/ average AOS timelines. Some people have a shorter timeline...and yet others have timelines much longer than yours. As was metioned ealier...the fact that you have an interview date should be comforting....you see the light at the end of your tunnel. :)

Hi Frenchy,

don't worry yourself about the EAD they are going to take it away from you at the interview. I understand the delay makes it feel as if there is a mistake happening and you have no control over it. Like you, I check my mail like crazy even though I got touched about my EAD. Everyday I run downstairs to see if I was sent a physical mail and then I look at the next thing that has not been touched. That's the darn Devil playing with us lol. My I-485 status remains unchanged even with the interview letter ( it still says RFE - Case on hold); my EAD has been ordered but I haven't gotten the letter in my hand as yet and my I-130 still says pending and there has been no touches on it. So what do I do? I congratulate everyone who was touched and I check my mail and if there is no change or no letter in the box I just go back and look at my interview date and get something prepared for the interview. Yesterday I selected the pictures I am going to print and take with me; today I added the postcards we received from family and friends and those we gave each other over the years to the list and also my certified copy of marriage certificate. Even though everything is in my filing cabinet I am daily selecting something to put in my immigration file to keep me busy. Don't stress yourself out dear, everything will be fine.

I also use my time on VJ to see what help I can give to others based on what I have already hurdled. There are many VJ virgins who are in need of our help so lets help them okay? Be blessed and again do not worry.

I definitely understand your frustration, but look on the bright side- you have an interview date! Which is really what this whole thing is about anyway. Spend the time reading other people's experiences, esp. those at your field office and take time to make sure all your documentation is prepared. In the mean time, just relax.

Ooooffff! OK, guys thanks! Thanks a million. Once again, just being over dramatic I guess. It's good to hear from all of you reminding me of the positive here. And yes, I do see the positive and am aware of it. And also following on the advice, gathering all my stuff for the interview and supporting documents and everything.

I'll just stay focused on the good, and offer support where it is needed.

Cheers!

Exactly. I'm an late-August/early-September filer and I still have no end in site (transferred to CSC in Feb, a long time after other August filers were transferred, no interview date received). A November filing with interview in April is bang on the average timeline... There are people around on VJ who have been waiting for more than 18 months - now that's a long wait.

I read that the EAD timeline had changed btw. The new rules are that EAD must be processed within 90 days and if they aren't an infopass can rectify. I saw a few posts from ppl who received after their info pass on the uk expat forum.
