CandylovesAhmed: I dont know what to say to comfort you. You have worked so hard to be together, maybe the administrative stuff will work out, especially if you keep calling them and pushing your case. Why cant you move to Kuwait to be together though? Do they have even more red tape you have to go through. I hope something develops for you soon! Our thoughts are with you. DON'T GIVE UP. (F)

candy: I think it's an unfortunate quirk of dating anyone in the middleeast, we are hyper sensitive about the region, it seems EVERYONE on VJ trying to get a K1 or K3 there are going through the same torture you are. If it's any comfort, you aren't the only august filer not approved, there is at least chris & mara still to go, maybe some others are still waiting too that we haven't heard from (or that maybe I've overlooked).

Have a good trip HW08, who the heck is going to :reading: bump the thread now?

Hi August filers. My fiance & I also applied for a K-1 last August. I’m currently waiting for an interview with the Montreal consulate. They move pretty slowly and I may have a few more months left to wait. I only recently discovered VJ and it’s a pity because I think it would have made this last year much easier. Anyhow, best of luck to those of you who are still waiting, I don’t think there are many of us left. Also congrats to those of you who are already landed in the US. How wonderful to be reunited with the people you love!

Good luck, HW. :)

I have FINISHED UNIVERSITY!

And I've recieved an amazing offer, someone I know has a sister working for the hospital in Harvard as a psychologist, and says she might be able to get me an internship. That would be amazing! I have to ask whether I'm allowed to do this with a EAD or if I have to have a greencard, etc.. but awesome.

She's also from my town in England. :o Creepy!

That's some wonderful news, Gemmie! Congrats!

I've been busy studying... One down (A+, yay!), waiting for the results of the second one (should be positive). Two to go. Plus three essay-type things and my thesis. All that should be done in the next month, or so. Ugh!

It's going to end up being a full year until we get her visa!

What a pain!

We gave the lawyer's office all our paperwork end of july; they ended up keeping it for a couple weeks then finally got it to them first week in August. At this rate, no interview schedule, nothing...just waiting. I've emailed the embassy but they give a canned answere so I have no way of knowing what they have or anything. Interesting...the website said pay some fee and talk to someone so I paid a fee and emailed some secret squirrel email only to be told they don't handle that so I wasted money on that route.

I guess everyone just waits at this point? Last I heard it was sent to Bangkok embassy....awaiting 3rd packet but nothing....

ugh!

I'm coming up on a year in July from when we handed our papers over. Hope the expedite means something. It's amazing how slooow they are now. Slower than all other years so far.

Candy, unfortunately, applicants in the middle-east are often put in AP/AR due to extra security checks. Most of this is done within a few months, so don't panic too much. I think 6 months is the maximum. I know that seems like a pain, especially not knowing anything, but you're in the waiting list (so to speak) and will have your visa.

Mara, what did the lawyer suggest? Are you doing anything to celebrate your engagement anniversary? I know it's not what you anticipated a year on, but at least you're together for it.

Hyena, you're waiting for packet 3, right? Do you have everything ready to go as soon as it hits your mat? If so, give the consulate a call, you've been waiting a month now.

I hope everyone recieves some news soon.

Here are some professional photos from our final ball together:

A couple of my girls weren't able to make it.. but I've grown so close to them over the past 3 years, I'm so sad to leave them behind. <3

Thank you for that suggestion! SOOOOOO I was going to give them a call but it was Saturday night...I opened my emails this evening and BAM, they said back on the 15th they sent packet 3 out (correct address included...but you know BKK and corrupt apartment managers).

It's OK because her police will be completed tomorrow (I think they already picked it up)..and my bank stuff should be here tomorrow (after 3 tries and idiot responses from the banks...finally got what they wanted). Going to superduper fast that out to BKK. Then to figureout average waiting time and shop for AIRPLANE TICKETS!!!!!!!!!! WOW! Did I jsut say that?

My fiancee tells me to stop talking because I told her 4-6 months (which was true at the time) she says turns out being a year and she'll believe it when..she doesn't really believe she's coming! LOL! Oh well, I understand now older comments I read about fiancees reacting this way after being dragged through the mud for months.

Still, It'll be maybe 11 months my guess but that's better than 11 years (I'm actually nervous)!
