...that the engagement to my foreign SO was called off. Wow, what a year!

I usually get reflective on anniversaries, and this one is no different. It's amazing to look back and see how much I've grown. I've lost a few pounds, lost my insecurities and fear. I've gained a ton independence, strength, a healthy self-worth, etc. I am a completely different person than I was a year ago. Last year, I felt like just crawling under my covers and crying myself to death. Dramatic, I know, but true.

This year, I am happy, busy with work, I feel good about myself. I've become more zen and happy about life, enjoying it for all it has to offer. I have a new man in my life whom I love greatly, and when I think of the future, I get excited. I do have some trust issues that drive me insane at times, and I am afraid that it will cause problems with my new relationship, but I feel that's only natural given the circumstances, and I am determined to work on that daily so that it doesn't affect things.

I dunno why I feel compelled to start a thread...I'm sure peeps here will be all 'congrats!' and while that's GREAT, that's not why I'm doing it. I know everyone will be happy for me, but I just wanted to share something personal with the people who watched me go through it. I know I've given you all updates in the past, so this is kinda superfluous, but I'm still gonna do it, lol. As dysfunctional as VJ can be, we still are a family of sorts, and I guess I just wanted to say Thank You all for being there throughout my engagement (with visa advice), also for occupying my mind throughout the process and filling in some of that loneliness...thanks for also making me feel like I wasn't the only insane person going thru this process!...and afterwards, thank you all for all of your kind words of support via the boards and pm. Your support was immensely helpful, and it made me feel great to have people who could understand the true sense of loss that I once felt after coming so far.

We may not always 'play nice' and we may be little sh!ts to one another, but we're all connected, and I admire you all greatly. This journey is not for the weak of heart, and for that, we should all get a purple heart ;) Thank you all for being there for me throughout mine for all these years, and if anyone's gonna drink tonite, have a glass for me & my good fortune!

<3 ya!

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
