Its just sad that she brought those children into the world without a father and more disgusting are the doctors who actually carried such a proceedure out. Considering the circumstances and know she already had disabled kids, so how many more disability are they expecting amongst these 8?

A normal healthy child is exhausting enough to care for, almost driving one to insanity while they grow, then 6 and then some more?

Meanwhile this is where the taxes taken from the paychecks even before it reaches your hand goes, all those over time.

Nobody makes policy decisions based on the actions of one person. This is not normal behaviour. It's not going to happen every day, if ever again. The family have to face most of the consequences of this persons decisions, not 'greater society' no matter how much people think they do 'suffer' because of her weird choices.

Luckily the millions of kids born into poverty and unstable families don't exist in America. The octomom isn't a role model but millions of worthless parents are for the next generation of the underclass.

What is the underclass? The poor? Being poor makes you worthless? Where do you get your ideas?

Someone should clip that post with all the posts from some unknown blog - how pointless.

What disturbs me most about this story is less that she's received welfare (although that's a problem) but more that she thought she could leverage this story into some kind of media/television career using her multiple births to become some kind of fame-####### C-list celebrity. She's really thought the whole thing through, including having what appears to be plastic surgery. She obviously saw the IV as some kind of of investment in this future career. It's really sick.

Maybe if people didn't feed on these stories like starving coyotes no one would get these daft ideas into their heads...then again. This person probably needs pyche help more than anything.

This is outright disgusting! Might not change the situation as what has been done has been done but it can also voice the concerns of the public and show how repelling it is also serve as a warning to those planning to go that route, letting them know it wont be a smooth passage.

Nope. The fertility doctor that she used has a practice I believe in Beverly Hills. He's declining any interviews with the media, but other fertility doctors have come out in criticism of his medical irresponsibility. One went on the record to say that what he did by implanting 7 embryo's into Ms. Nuleman was unethical and should be illegal. Unfortunately, there are no regulations for the fertility industry. The state of California should enact legislation that would instate regulations.

LOS ANGELES – Police said Thursday they will investigate death threats against octuplet mom Nadya Suleman and advise her publicist on how to handle a torrent of other nasty messages that have flooded his office.

Word that the 33-year-old single, unemployed mother is receiving public assistance to care for the 14 children she conceived through in vitro fertilization has stoked furor among many people.

Police Lt. John Romero said officers were meeting with Suleman's publicist Mike Furtney about the flood of angry phone calls and e-mail messages against Suleman, her children and Furtney.

"We are aware of the media accounts of the threats, and that they are being sent to the West Los Angeles detectives for appropriate action," Romero said.

Furtney said 500 new e-mails were received early Thursday.

"We're talking to the Los Angeles Police Department to get their best advice as to how to regard these messages," Furtney said as the phone in his office rang constantly.

He is also consulting with a security professional to get advice on any precautions that might need to be taken.

Suleman is living in an undisclosed location and spends time with all her kids every day, Furtney said. The octuplets are expected to remain in the hospital for several more weeks.

Not all the calls have been angry. One family from the Midwest has invited Suleman and her brood to live on their farm, Furtney said.

"One thing that keeps me from jumping out the window is that we've heard from many people offering some kind of support: clothing, food, financial or other help," Furtney said.

Suleman has been supporting her six other children with $490 a month in food stamps and receives Social Security disability payments for three of the youngsters that could total $2,379 a month.

She has estimated her in vitro fertilization procedures have cost $100,000.

Suleman has said she saved for the treatments by working double shifts and also used money from a disability award exceeding $165,000 that she received after an on-the-job back injury.

The benefits were discontinued last year.

The Suleman octuplets' medical costs have not been disclosed, but in 2006, the average cost for a premature baby's hospital stay in California was $164,273, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Eight times that equals $1.3 million.

For a single mother, the cost of raising 14 children through age 17 ranges from $1.3 million to $2.7 million, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

I remember someone saying this would happen especially with the economic crisis here, some people are bound to be offended but writting threat emails...i think thats a bit too far!

You are right on that one, everything has been done for her she has done nothing for her children, her mother does the baby sitting for those children, all she does is bring them into the world.

I wonder when she ll try it again, after 5yrs? and i wonder if she ll go for 14 at once.

Why should this women be an exception, the only thing I got from our fvcking government was that $3,500 deduction for each kid I had, that was post FICA taxes, and with a 15% tax rate, federal only was just about a buck extra per to raise, clothe, and to support that kid. Since we don't have bus service and sent my kids to a private school, that buck barely paid for gas. Governor state a big part of his 6 billion dollar budget shortfall is welfare and medicaid, I ain't getting none of that for my kids, school claims lack of state aid, had to increase the school property taxes, I ain't got no kids in those schools. Obama passed that 32 billion bucks for kids without health insurance, while wife and I are paying $13,100 per year, after FICA taxes for health insurance. And if our daughter didn't go to college that we are also paying dearly for, she would have been kicked off our policy. We haven't seen that 32 billion dollar tax increase yet, but expecting it.

Made a comment to my wife, what in the hell are we working for? To support other people's kids and those that don't work their a$$es off like we do! With our tax and health insurance burden, we are not much better off than those living for free off the govenment!

Governor propose universal state health care that didn't go through by payroll deductions, questioned that, our payroll deductions are already being smashed to hell with just us, will we owe money for working our cans off? Reason it was rejected, if we had free health insurance, everyone would come to our state to get it.

Are state income taxes are almost as high as the federal, a hell of a lot more if I toss in property taxes, but got a whole 50 bucks back in taxes for each kid.

How about a law where if you can't afford to pay for your own kids, you can't have any!
