MSN saves chat logs as an .xml file. You can import that file into Excel. I did that got the format to look they way i wanted it and then changed the margins to get the max lines per page. After that do a "find" on specific words and delete the rows or just browse through and delete them.

Hopes this helps

Unless a chat log is clearly in its original format it isn't "evidence". Redacting is fine. Chat logs and transcripts need only be examples anyway and none are required with the petition. They can be saved for the interview.

Hmmmm that's an interesting thought. In my cleaned / optimized format i have 200 printed pages of chat logs. I'm wondering if that along with everything else just helps "cover the bases" during the interview process.

Thoughts?

200 pages??? i for one am not one to judge on sending additional evidence as i sent one chat log and our lease with both ciggies from romania along with my hospital statement with both our siggies on it...but sending too much will only cause more for them to look at. its not going to hurt you in anyway tho. You will need to send that again tho for the interview process once approved.

200 pages :o

Wonder if they can see the forest?

Ooops let me clarify. I have 200 pages in an optimized / rated "G" Excel file. I sent a small subset to VSC but will take the "suitcase approach" come interview time. This is probably a good thing as the Thailand thread is all talking about the unique qualities of a new interviewer. I'm taking the latest revision of "the suitcase" over during my next trip and we are going to do the mock interviews with her using the documentation to answer the questions.

I know I'm going overkill for the interview but (as my daughter says) that's how i roll. :hehe:

Once you've cleaned an optimized the text, it's just text. Evidence would be screen shots showing the original format with date stamps etc. 200 pages would be far too many, even if evidence. Use examples not tree killing piles of paper nobody has time to read. Chat logs are used top demonstrate you communicated regularly over a period of time.

200 is a lot, but mine were 900+ pages.

My entire submission was less than 25 pieces of paper (including a 15 page divorce decree....)

YMMV

I have searched all over the US Embassy website trying to locate information related to your "just text" post. Would you mind pointing me in the direction of the documentation that would be applicable to that?
