More often than not it is tough to get a bank to give you exactly what you want in this regard - most folks will provide copies of statements (as you described) and things work out just fine. In other words - it may not be likely the bank will give you what you want so you'll probably have to make due.

As a side note:

(Without giving up a lot of personal information here.) Bank statement(s) may not really be necessary if your income is sufficient. We didn't send any.

US Embassy and Consulate General Discussion

You are almost there and now you have to deal with the embassy. This is the place to post your experiences or questions related to this last step before moving to the US. Topics relating to I-134's, packets sent from consulate and medical & police certificates should be posted here.

YMMV

The directions included with I-134 are very old, USCIS has no reason to update them since USCIS has no application for that form.

The consulates tend to treat the I-134 like a mini-I-864 as so prefer the same financial evidence as the I-864.

In our case this what the I-134 included.

  • I-134.

  • SIMPLE Tax transcripts from the IRS for past 3 years, (Redundant for the (1040,W2,1099) but are free from the IRS http://www.irs.gov/faqs/faq1-6.html

  • Photo copy of IRS form 1040, and W2s for past 3 years (Not necessary if you provide the transcripts)

  • Letter from my employer stating annual salary, job responsibility, and that is full time, on company letterhead.

  • Photo copies of past month or so of pay stubs up to a few weeks before the interview.
My income was well above the povertyline so I did not include any asset data (LIKE BANK STATEMENTS or property values).

If your income exceeds 125% of the povertyline when counting yourself, prospective immigrant and any dependents, then don't bother with assets (401K, Bank balance, Stocks etc..), it is just extra un-needed data to provide, the consular officer is most concerned with INCOME.

I-864 is a different form and is used in different situations... (ie.. immigrant visas and resident alien applications)

Typically

  • I-134 is for the Embassy/Consulate/interview stage.
  • I-864 is for the AOS stage.

I-134 is for K-Visas and is used by the consulate.

I-864 is required for green-cards and is used by NVC or consulate for CR-1 IR-1 or other IMMIGRANT visas, and by USCIS when adjusting status from a K-Visa or other NON-IMMIGRANT visa.

I-129F generates a K-Visa, the I-134 is used at the consulate for a K-Visa.

Does the Affidavit of Support still have to be Notorized?

I am actually at the same stage now and was also wondering if it has to be notarized....and as I understood from other people reviews in the instruction form for I-134 (first page on the bottom) it is specified that now it is not required to be notarized....

good luck

Where does it say it doesn't have to be notorized? The form on the USCIS site says it needs to be notorized or signed by an immigration officer.

To file this form, it needs to be sworn to or affirmed by a USCIS Officer at any USCIS Office, by a notary public, or other official authorized to administer oaths for general purposes. If the sponsor is outside the United States, the affidavit must be sworn to or affirmed by a USCIS Officer or Consular Officer at any U.S. Embassy or Consulate.

Once the form is affirmed, it should be mailed to the same USCIS office where the application was filed.

So does that mean I can get the form signed when I take it for my interview, or does it have to be signed before?
