I have a hard time buying that eat-late-gain-weight concept. I grew up eating late and only changed it to accommodate my husband. And, even then, I still don't necessarily eat at the same time he does. Pretty much all of Europe eats late too. I'm more inclined to believe it's what we eat, not when we eat.

True that. If you're eating a balanced, healthy meal the time should not matter!

I eat dinner around 8:30 every night because I go to the gym right after work. I've still managed to lose 8 pounds, so I don't think it's true either. I definitely don't eat anything heavy or carb-full, but I don't think it's really mattered.

I need a new scale... nevada, what kind did you get?

I got a new scale as well about a week and a half ago. It's pretty good and it weighs consistently. I can step on it 10 times in a row and get the same weight every time. Ours is a Taylor and it gives you body fat% and muscle mass as well as your weight. That's pretty helpful to me.

I also don't agree with not eating late at night. I eat if I'm hungry. I hated it when I was trying not to eat after 8 pm. Sometimes I'd be SO hungry that I'd go to bed early just so I wouldn't eat anything. I think that if you're legitimately hungry you need to eat, no matter what time it is.

Thanks, I'm going to look into that scale. I want something that is going to last and is accurate. I was staying at my Aunt's place and she had a really good scale and it made such a difference!

My current scale is always off by a few pounds here and there and it drives me crazy!

How do those scales work? How can they figure out your BMI and muscle levels just thru the bottom of your feets? To figure BMI, it would have to know your height as well, wouldn't it?

Not a very good kind...

I figured a scale is a scale so I bought that one. Well, lesson learned.. a scale is not a scale. I'll be buying something better this coming weekend.

That one I just bought the other day. Unfortunately it just reads "ERR" every time anyone steps on it.

Scales are not my friend. I am going to get something that isn't digital.

I was about to suggest, get an "old school" scale. Digital ones I find always change the number even if you get on a minute or two later. The ones with the dial on it are pretty accurate, IMO.

I use the medical one at the gym, but I go in the evenings and I am always carrying water weight... I like to weigh myself right when I wake up...

Nevada - do you lightly tap the scale first, wait until the number flash 00 and then step back on? And it still reads ERR? if so then its definitely broken, but otherwise you have to tap it first and then step on it...

My aunt has this amazing weight watchers one that is digital with a glass stepper thingy... its nice and works well... i'll have to look for it.

I just tried the tap thing and it says ERR.

It's probably saying: "ERR you don't want to know how much you weigh"

I started back at Weight Watchers 3 weeks ago. At weigh in tonight, I was down 5.2 pounds. Yesterday, though, I weighed 5 pounds less. I seriously have swelled up and now my doc thinks I have allergic conjuctivitis after having an allergic reaction to something, rather than the bacterial conjuctivitis they told me it was on Monday. Doc put me on Prednisone, so it should be interesting to see what my weight is next week.

Hey Reba, the scale that I have requires you to put in your height, your age, and your gender. It also asks if you're athletic or not. It has metal on the top of the scale where you step on and when you step on it sends an faint electric pulse through your body to measure your body fat % and muscle mass. It even has a warning in the manual not to use if you have any implanted devices, like a pacemaker for instance. It says that it is a medical scale like the doctors use. I really like it so far!
