Hi, guys, I just want you to know I was approved today. My appointment is at 12:30pm, and our lawyer told us to meet him in front of the building at 12:00pm. Me and Amy got there at 11:45am, and we tried to get into the waiting area, but the security guard told us that the officers are having lunch break and asked us to come back at 12:25pm. So we went down to wait our lawyer. While we were waiting, there was another couple coming in, and we told them that the security didn't let us in. So they waited with us for a few mins. And as they decided to go up to try, our lawyer came, and we went up together. Our lawyer explained to the guard that he emailed the officer and asking him to interview us earlier as he had a court to go to at 1pm. So the security let us in but not the other couple, which made me feel good about having a lawyer. We were called in around 12:15pm. Our officer was a young male, and he was pretty professional and respectful the whole time. He swore us in really quick, then asked us our DOB, where we were born, the standard questions. He asked when we got married, and how we met, how long did we date before we got married. Then he asked us if we had set up a joint account, and utility bills. And he flipped through our photos, and commented on two pictures of the dishes we had on a date. Then he approved us after that, explained lifting the condition in two years. My lawyer asked him if he had lunch already, he said he hadn't taken a break today, then Amy joked about how those dishes must look really good to him. He said yes, and laughed. We were in and out for about 10 to 15 mins. I was really worried when he was checking my passport and looking at my canceled visa, but he didn't ask any questions related to that. Anyway, I am really happy now, and I am gonna have a nice dinner with Amy and our friends tonight to celebrate. Thanks for all the help and support from the VJers. Wish everyone good luck on their journey.

Happy for u guys!!! Congrats!

Hoping to get a letter some time soon for my interview.

Planning a trip home in July since I can travel on my K-3 visa, don't want it to cause problems with an interview.

RN has very high damand job market not only in US but everywhere! I'm sure you can get a job real soon. and woow you have 3 names? u mean 3 names in the middle or ??

Glo

it is common in the Philippines to have 2 first names or even three or four first names. Our middle name would always be our mother's maiden name.

Ex.1 Maria Kristina Cassandra Cuneta Concepcion: the "Maria Kristina Cassandra" are all considered part of the first name while Cuneta (the mom's maiden name) is the middle name and "Concepcion" (dad's last name/family name/surname) is the last name/family name.

Ex. 2 Kristina Bernadette Aquino Yap: "Kristina Bernadette" is the first name while "Aquino" (her maiden name/last name prior to marriage) is now the middle name since she has gotten married and "Yap" (her husband's last name) has become her last name.

It is probably confusing to others, esp to americans who do it a different way... in the same way that it was confusing to us Filipinos how the middle name is what we consider part of the first name and why US born citizens can't just take the mom's maiden name as the middle name. ... but well, we are all learning from each other and trying to adapt in the best way we can... even with the complexity of handling names. ;)

mine is like your ex. 1 ate. but mine is longer cus my middle name has a "DELA" like, DELA TORRES

Congrats andiste08!

I got 2 first name and the SSA messed up my first name by making my first 2 names one word. So now I have to fix it right away when I receive my GC. Our tax return was rejected because my name doesnt match with the number and found out its because of my 2 word first name. My husband always get confused too why I have so many names. Lol! And also the bank and other bills made my second name as my middle initial which is not really my middle name. I keep on explaining that jane is my second name and "P" is my middle initial not "J". yea in Philippines its so common to give at least 2-3 first name to their kids.

Shes, have you started sending resume to hospital? Where are you located? Im here in Massachusetts and im also RN here. I applied to several job posting online in hospital, long term carm facility and nursing homes. Still no call from them. I heard some hospitals here freeze hiring for nurses. My friend advice me to go to hospital and to hand deliver my resume because the HR will look at your application right away. So that's what I did last Friday, and luckily was able to spoke with the director of nursing. She is very nice. She gave me her calling card and told me to call her if I didnt get a call within 2 weeks from her. I asked if they are hiring and she said yes we're always hiring. Its a big advantage to personally submit your resume coz the HR will think you give an effort to go to their location plus they can review your application right then. Hope we will get job soon. Happy job hunting!

yes ive been sending a few and posted my resumes but i dont want to formally apply yet, u know like going to interviews etc etc..until my gc is in my hand cus i think it lessen the stress to take one step at a time

Thanks everybody for your congrats. I just want to add a few facts. The officer didn't ask for birth certificates of me and Amy. He asked to see our ID, my passport, and our marriage certificate. He took my i-94, but he didn't take my AP or EAD. My lawyer said since they don't stamp anymore, they let you keep AP and EAD nowdays in case you need them before your gc arrives.

Glo, we had a very nice dinner at a japanese restaurant called sushi eyes on Elliot and Roosevelt. It was really good food. :)

Hi, guys, I just want you to know I was approved today. My appointment is at 12:30pm, and our lawyer told us to meet him in front of the building at 12:00pm. Went and applied for my social security today and the process was very simple. They didn't even ask to see our marriage certificate just my drivers license, passport, and EAD. She told me that I would have it in 10 days and if it hadn't gotten it in 2 weeks then I had to go back in and talk to someone. I'm so excited I even updated my resume and started looking for position openings this afternoon. Now I'm just waiting on some news of my green card **fingers crossed**
