I know threads go off topic in epidemic proporitions here so this isn't the first time something like this has happened, but still. Try to think how you might feel sitting on the other side of this.

I agree that the lesson learned here is a valuable one, but its just breaking my heart that she needs support and instead gets this. Perhaps we could take the 'did she do the smart thing' debate to another thread?

I understand what you mean anita about living in fear the rest of your life that somehow, someway, they will find out you lied and get deported. I think being honest was the right thing to do. I think just the fact you were honest shed some light on you being able to still have a chance to enter the USA. Good luck, and I am thinking of you.

Now for Anita, I am so truly sorry to hear this. Try to take comfort that your Visa was not flat-out denied, because there is no Waiver for that. In fact, under the law you're perfectly ok (the law requires you to be in remission of any drug use for a period of 3 years) as long as you demonstrate that fact. Just try to relax, get it all together, and go for it.

And, as Tracy said, please don't let this thread go bad. It's difficult enough going through something like this without getting beat down on here.

I wish the best for her too. I also want others to learn from this. Isn't that the point of posting our experiences? To help others? Without discussion there is no learning (IMHO).

What Ariji and rch99 have said is exactly what my mother and brother have said; and they did not put it as nicely as Arijit and rch99.

To me it is important that I remain true to myself and my code of ethics. I need to be able to look at myself in the mirror and not feel ashamed of what I have done... I spent so much time hiding coz of things that were done to me and blaming myself for it... I have fought against all kinds of odds to find myself again... and I will never allow myself to feel ashamed of being me for any reason. I hope that enables you to understand where I am coming from.
