Just wanted to talk about how my call to the NVC went today. They received my case on the 23 of March and I got my case number on that date. I called Monday of this week and learned for the first time that my case was undergoing "additional processing".

Today I was going to be relentless in tryng to find what this "additional processing" meant and how long before my case would be sent on to the consulate. The woman I talked to either did not know anything or just was not very friendly. I didn't expect her to know specifically why my case was help up. She made it sould normal and that the process takes up to 4 weeks. That does not agree to what I have always heard here about K visas - they stop very briefly on their way to the foreign consulate. I asked if my case was being treated differently than others ... I asked why I was sent a letter saying that my case would be forwarded "within a week" to my consulate. I was very polite but persistent in asking what this delay meant.

The only answer I got was that it takes up to 4 weeks and I will be contacted when it is sent on. They always confirm my phone number and email address when I call for some reason. I find it hard to believe that they would ever call me!

I just would love to know, as I suppose everyone here would, why this delay happens and what a legitimate assessment of the wait will be. The waiting isn't the worst part ... Its not knowing how long the wait will be.

Darn it! I've got a wedding to plan!

Thanks for listening to my rant.

Every time when you call to NVC you speak with different operators.. we also got 2 letters.. but it means nothing.. you need to call them every day. First weeks, we were said to call in a week.. we know that we almost gone from NVC and call them every day.

Stay here and good luck to you!!!

Thanks for all the replies.

Yes, we will get through it. Its just so hard to try to explain it to my fiancee. Thank God she is way more patient than I am. We both know the wait is just a small bump on the road to our happiness.

Hey man, I am in the same boat, i got my NOA 2 on feb. 17nd 2009. Sorry to hear you guys got stuck. We're getting quite a mix around here... we now have 2 Mexicans to add to our existing family of 2 Ukrainians, several Filipinos, along with assorted South Korean, Vietnamese, Thai, Croatian, Romanian, and the odd Limey and Kiwi tossed in for good measure  (I'm talking about the beneficiaries of course)

Uh oh! I knew when I wrote that I was going to forget someone very important... there was just no way I was going to remember everybody.... please add the Jordanian member of our family to the above list.

me <-- :bonk:

I was gonna say.... eh hem! excuse me! but you remembered after all lol

"you fondle my trigger then you blame my gun"

Timeline: 13 month long journey from filing to visa in hand

If you were lucky and got an approval and reunion with your loved one rather quickly; Please refrain from telling people who waited 6+ months just to get out of a service center to "chill out" or to "stop whining" It's insensitive, and unecessary. Once you walk a mile in their shoes you will understand and be heard.

Thanks!

Well, after waiting about 1 year and 3 months to get our NOA2, I was really hoping we would get through NVC quickly, but tonight I found out that we are also in AP. The person I talked to was friendly, but wouldn't give me a reason or a timeframe in which it would be done. She recommended that I call back every week to check.

Wow, Im so sorry that you have had a rough road. Waiting SO long just to get an approval only to get stuck again. The good news is, this waiting has a definate end that you can set your watch to so to speak. It is NOT like sitting at the service center imagining you file collecting dust and under someones desk leg as a level. :P

You can plan on being out right around 50 days, give or take a few. That was the only comfort that I had after my bitterness of waiting what felt like forever, only to be told that we were in AP. (F)

Steve,

next week dude. I'll set aside the happy dance and wait for your post that you've been released on good behavior :P

I guess I will join this group also, received NOA2 on 23 March, NVC received my packet on 24 March, got the case number on 24 March, and then I made that dreaded phone call,"you are currently in AP". Wow so I asked could I expedite since I am deployed with the US Army, and they asked was i expedited through VSC I replied yes, and she gave me the email address to request expedite, that was Monday, and I'm just waiting to hear something.

GOOd luck to everyone here im happy for u guys :dance::dance:

We're still stuck at NVC sounds im AP...hope they release me :crying::crying::crying:

rymusic04, pgp, Mford019, foreverlove - you are welcome here. I'm sure you'd rather not be stuck here, but at least you know you're not alone.

It seems that even as we get new releases from NVC - they are intent on filling the queue with new 'stuck' people as well. Oh well.

Some of you guys are very near to getting out.It should be just a matter of days for you at this point.

You can track your progress at the link below. It was down for a while today, but it seems to be back up now.

I guess that's what happens when you host at a free webserver (I chose nxserve.net), there's absolutely no control over when they choose to shut it down :(. I may start looking around for a more stable place to host.

Good luck to everyone - hope you all get out soon!

Nadiya and Joe, and deonila & stephen douglas -if you guys don't get out today you absolutely MUST be out on Monday- I command it!! :diablo:

Oh course we BOTH know that the term "good behavior" is not in my vocabulary ...

Welcome to the new members. If nothing else, reading this thread will let you know that you are not alone, no it does not make any sense, but yes you will get through it ... you're in a holding pattern and there is nothing you can do until the 'tower' gives you clearance to land ...

Thank you Joe & Nadya for showing me the way here!!! It's reassuring to know that other people are going through the same thing...helps me to be a lot calmer since we've been in AP for 10 business days only (since March 20th 2009), but at the same time afraid that it can be a long time before we move on. I'm just soooooo annoyed by the people at NVC....it's frustrating not to know what's going on. it would make the wait so much easier to have a little info. but as someone else mentioned, maybe we should call once a week, or is it too soon? I'm even more mad that they intend on sending the file to the wrong consulate (Vancouver instead of Montreal), but luckily, the people in Vancouver are much more helpful and will forward the file to Montreal as soon as they receive it.

Well you can have most of our info in my signature and timeline. I'm Julie, the non-USC, glad to be around people who understand! I loooove VJ!!!

Welcome aboard Julie. Bienvenue a notre maison :)

(I grew up in Ottawa, and still have family in Montreal. There's nothing like a good Schwartz' smoked meat sandwich!)

You will get out of AP, just sit back and relax this will all pass in due course.
