If they ahave cashed your check then you are more then likely in the system, we had our check cashed on the 27th of August but our NOA1 got eaten by the US postal service, USCIS has assured us it is in the system and have resent our thingy. Best thing to do is wait till about 21 days after your check is cashed and then call if you haven t recieve anything.

Petitions tend to sit in the mail room for a while before they are opened. Having them sign for the package either does nothing for you at best or at worst costs you a day. It's far easier to see if a personal check is cashed than to track a money order. If lost, replacing a money order can be a real drag.

Priority mail with delivery confirmation is my recommendation.

Phil and I never got an NOA1 at all. I guess it got lost in the post. We called about a month after we should have gotten it and they told us we were in the system. We got the NOA2 last month so everything turned out ok.

To all the WoW players, we meet on WoW too. Our guild gets to hear all our immigration news. I wonder how many times the embassies and consulates hear that theses days. I suspect they ofter think "Another nerd couple...." :P

Ours was sent registered from overseas so it's probably just taking it's sweet time. We also sent a cheque so we arn't too worried about that.

There is very little if anything you can do to "speed" it up but by a day or two if, at all... The extra expense in the end is simply not worth it. The best things are ones that allow you to track the small steps... Delivery confirmation, check cashing, online notification...
