My husband sucks. Period. Its a LOOOOONG story I can't add everything in but I've put up with his lazy excuse for a husband for over a year now and I can't take it anymore!

(I am the USC)

He just received his green card (but it is not delivered to us yet. Just got the approval letter though) and has been awfully abusive emotionally and I just can't take it. Its the last f*cking straw! I've tried everything. Exhausted every posibility to make things work between us...but he doesn't put in ANY effort. All he does is lie and promise me things, then not deliver.

Today he started packing his bags like he's done in the past (he usually comes back an hour later) and we began to fight afterward. I told him I wanted a divorce and that I would buy him a ticket back to his country...but he refuses!

What can I do? I know I can't make him go...but I'm so scared once he's out on the streets he'll do something drastic and end up in the hospital, or God knows what! And I'll be financially responsible for it.

Which brings me to my main question...

what exactly ARE we responsible for with the affidavit of support that I signed? I just wish he'd go back to his country and that would be that (and myself heartbroken) but he refuses.

What can I DOOOOOOOOOOOOO???????? :crying:

From what I understand at this stage in his process Human Services won't allow him to apply for any type of welfare so I don't think you have to worry about paying his bills yet.

You can not do anything.

Probably best to forget the Immigration aspects.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

The Affidavit of support is a contract between the sponsor and the US government. Conceptually, the sponsor is obligated to compensate the US government for the value of any meants tested benefit the sponsoree received.

YMMV

If I were you, I'd try to find him another place to stay, or perhaps you can leave the residence.

I caution you not to engage in any physical fights, if you have to stay there with him but really

feel that the marriage is over, just try not to let him get to you mentally. (Easier said then done)

By now he knows which buttons to push to make you want to fly off the handle please try to re-

main calm and deal with him as less as possible.

It could be he's just waiting for his greencard and then will leave you anyway. There are more things I'd like to share with you so PM me and we can chat there if you like.

PEOPLE: READ THE APPLICATION FORM INSTRUCTIONS!!!! They have a lot of good information in them! Most of the questions I see on VJ are clearly addressed by the form instructions. Give them a read!! If you are unable to understand the form instructions, I highly recommend hiring someone who does to help you with the process. Our process, from K-1 to Citizenship and U.S. Passport is completed. Good luck with your process.
