There is no disputing that fact.

Here are some photos of Holly Beach, Louisiana before Hurricane Rita wiped it off the map in 2005. These photos I got from the internet.

Here are some photos I personally took flying out to my job offshore days after Hurricane Rita leveled Holly Beach in 2005. Pretty grim. The photos don't convey how devastating it looks seeing it with your own eyes.

Fortunately there was no one in Holly Beach when the 20'+ wall of storm surge slammed into it like a bulldozer on steroids. Only a fool and an idiot thinks they can survive something like that. Stupid is as stupid does. Anybody that scoffs at evacuating gets what they get.

I have no time here, but there will be some people [again] who won't follow the mandatory evacs, and despite emphatic warnings will try and ride it out will be stuck waiting to get rescued by some other people risking their own lives to save their idiot non-evac butts. Evac provisions were made well in advance by the State.
