This is stupid, is this what politics is about these days?

If it is true that this is proof that Ms Palin had sex before marriage,, this would be a good thing because it would mean that even these highly morally upright citizens who would like everyone to behave in a certain way, support those who make mistakes and fail to do what they preach they ought to. It's a human face on right wing religious zeal. I approve of it because it's a lot better than casting out the afflicted.

I think this is a politically correct approach.

If someone wants to force children that aren't theirs into the abstinence-works #######, they should probably be able to follow their own rules. Herself and her own children, well, that's actually a perfectly legitimate hit, because she wants to make morals the issue, and here are the morals, backfiring in her face.

Yeah but she could have changed her mind on the subject subsequently. I think its a non-issue personally, even though I do think most politicians take these positions for reasons of expedience, rather than genuine belief.

My twins were born at 8 months ... preemie ....

Maybe you should get a 1st hand education and spend time in NICU and witness how preemie some children really can be and still survive.

babies born 32 weeks onwards (most babies are able to survive with the help of medical technology)

babies born at 25 weeks have a 50% chance of survival with the help of medical technology

It is statistically unlikely but of course it's possible. However, the main point is that this should have no bearing on whether one votes for Ms Palin or not. It should not be introduced as a topic worthy of discussion in the realms of political argument. It should be put on the gossip pages where people with nothing better to do that make themselves feel better by looking down on others.

If this election really turns into a debate as to whether Sarah Palin's first son was a preemie, I may as well shoot myself now.

It isn't a large one for me, either, because I'm going to educate my own kids about sex when the time comes, so the overbearing policy of any ideologue politician will have as little effect on my children as possible.

If anything, I'm more worried about her instituting religion into school, and civil rights issues like abortion, when it comes to her. Never mind the hypocrisy of championing her as a pork spending eradicator. Continuing the terrible foreign policy of pissing off middle eastern countries, except Israel, who's ### we continue to kiss for no reason at all (they certainly don't care to follow international accords on human rights), and in all likelihood, like McCain, would continue labeling countries in some "axis of evil" to keep Americans thinking we have all of these enemies -- which is true at the rate this President has screwed things up. Obama intially had a decent foreign policy setup, but his political moniker has bounced around more erratically than a pinball, and I just can't vote for someone with such a mark of instability in their vision.

Well that is an issue - as I said I'm sceptical as to why exactly Palin was selected, perhaps for that very reason (that she's a fresh face - but at the same time represents the usual Republican religious agenda).
